This is important if there are admins on, if there aren't any try to at least warn people about what they are doing wrong, and call in an admin to the server to keep things under control

Its usually a good idea for e's and even eG's to have other admins on their friends list. This way if a situation gets out of hand, you have someone to contact and have the problem taken care of.
 
Is this the thread talkin about the absence of admins related to swearin ??

P.S. I don't try 2 spam I just wanna make sure everything is ok with me or that im drunk...
 
before I became an admin I had alot of eGs and eGOs on my friends list and if needed would contact them via steam or vent. Never feel that you are inconvienancing an admin by asking them to come into your server to help with a certain individual.
 
We got to keep watch on the people with racist remarks. We most always try to keep a admin in the servers whenever we can.
 
Fortunately, if there isn't an eG or an eGO on the server, a good portion of people will typically listen to an e if he reminds someone of the rules. I had to do this a lot on Toyfort during the wee hours of the morning when few admins were on. Generally, most people will realize they've made a mistake, apologize, and try to behave.

Realistically, I do think anyone who plays on our servers for an extended period of time realizes who had the admin powers and who doesn't. Not that I'm saying that gives a reason to broadcast that there are no admins around - I do realize why that's a bad idea. If anything, this further backs up the idea that e's should have eG's and eGO's on their friendlist in case of a time where someone continues to break the rules (which is something I have also experienced). There are some people who just love to push it, and if they realize the e's on the server can't kick or ban, they'll just feel that allows them to go the extra mile.

But, I will cop up to having made this mistake in the past, although I believe it was usually in the context of, "There are no admins here... let me go get one!" Not sure how bad that is to broadcast in comparison, but I'd say it's probably the better thing to think if something like this comes up.

another point is to not get into an argument with these people when there are no admins present. My personal policy has always been to politely ask not to do such, then i contact any online admin.

If there is no online admin present, for the love of god don't try to argue any further. Giving these people any more attention is like giving treats to the dog who just wet the carpet. You and all self-respecting people on the server will just ignore/mute the offending player.

Eventually, you can contact an online admin or let the situation resolve itself.

thats a good rule but should that be common sense because i have been on some servers and they are really bad when some says something like that. also do we have any arena servers?:D

If you are wondering what an eG is, then I hope this helps. An eG is an admin in training. They have admin powers but it is limited. eGO's have full admin powers. And of course e's have no admin powers.

OK, 4 pages of this is quite enough to get the point across. We have numerous posts in these forums that state the same thing. I and all the other leadership appreciate the attention you're giving to this issue, as it's a very important one. I was witness one day that after an update, admin wasn't working on ANY server. We had an eG put out in text chat that "ADMIN IS NOT WORKING!" and then chaos ensued. This is the same situation as having no admins in a server when someone acts up and says "we have no admins here". It's been said here in this thread the steps you should take, and I'm going to summarize:

First and foremost, add admins to your steam friends, join IRC, vent or PM on the site. I can tell you all with confidence that there are ALWAYS admins available, regardless of what time of day or where you're playing from. Don't be afraid to talk to Advisors or the Division Leaders either . . . I know for a fact that the Advisors spend an ungodly amount of time around here :) If you want to add me, my steam name is "iamsupergrover". I'll free up some spots so you can add me. I don't know the other leadership's steam names, so I'll let them chime in on their own. If you need IRC information, go here: http://www.edgegamers.org/forums/cmps_index.php?pageid=irc It's free, and you will have instant access to admins, I guarantee it.

There is nothing wrong with e's asking people to follow our rules. In fact, that's showing that you understand what it means to be an admin which is what we're looking for (but it doesn't mean it'll get you promoted, although it can't hurt your chances). When this crap happens, say everything in text chat so we can have a log to pull and take care of it. Also, do a condump and if you have to and let an Advisor or DL know later on. If you have any questions, you can PM leadership any time. You are all doing a fantastic job and we appreciate your efforts.

It's been posted elsewhere and, frankly, is just common sense not to try to admin folks without the rank or especially the powers, heh. I generally keep a low profile (as far as violations go) but flagrant offenders I ask once for them to desist, and I'm very polite (using Please and Thank you). Surprisingly, so far, folks/kids I've warned immediately apologized and corrected the behavior, and we had fun.

On the other hand, I do try to raise my profile in a positive way. I congratulate players on achievements gained and compliment teammates when they make good plays or captures. I say hello to players I know, and try to make friends. Especially fellow e's and admins.

My online playing handle is "Ancient", and I invite any e, eG, and especially eGO's to send me a Steam invite, if you wish.

I still haven't gotten the hang of inviting folks while ingame. I'm sure there's a trick to it, but the trademark symbol doesn't translate into the friends search function, so I can't issue invites of my own to eGO members.
 
I dont think I got myself in a mess, I think Sixx jus got annoyed at the constant repetetive posts. But i cant be sure
