Wrong card sorry guys, it's a 9800 GT.

Is this graphics card worth buying? It's on offer at the moment and I could get it. Any opinions?

As of right now, no the card is not worth getting.

Why? Because in I believe 2010, DirectX11 will be released, in the following year the hardware to run DirectX11 will be released.
If you have the money to spend, the 9800 is a GREAT card which I even considered. But when I learned that bit of info, it seemed worthless.

Many people claim the 9000 series is a bad choice by Nvidia because it didn't really give you much more power.

Another option I considered was doing an SLI of 2 8600GT.

as of right now the best place to buy video cards is tiger direct or newegg. ati has the best cards out right now and the best one is the 4870X2. If you want to stick to nvidia, do sli with the 8800 gts or gt.

Depends really. Is it a 55nm version, or is it the original 65nm version? If it's the die shrunk version, I'd go for it. Otherwise I'd just get a 8800 GT, same thing for much cheaper.

About the ATI vs Nvidia.

The new series (the 8 series not 9) of Nvidia was put against the newer ATI cards.

Results in short; ATI won. BUT at higher settings and more resolution, Nvidia won.
Nvidia also won in SLI vs ATI CrossFire.
ATI also costs more.

9800GT is just a 8800GT with some updated software. Its like 50$ more for the exact same card.

IIRC the only 55nm shrink Nvidia has is the 9800GTX+

What 9800 are you planning on getting? If you want the 9800GT, don't waste your money. It is the EXACT same card as the 8800GT in every way, except for it supports a minor update in OpenGL, but really, who uses that?
