Spore!

It is a pretty addictive game so far. I am enjoying the game after the first 2 stages. :D

I'm at the space stage... once your get to the civilization stage you really lose control of your creature.... I don't like the fact that most changes you make to your creature won't make much of a difference later on... my guy with 6 arms isn't any more productive then a guy with 2 arms.

At that point it more or less becomes an RTS then a sim.

I like it, it's a fun game... I disappeared for a few days when I got it... excited to see what more the space stage holds for me...

Yeah it sounds like it has been toned down a lot since it was first announced and shown and what not, but I'm still gonna get it.

totally forgot to mention....

The absolute biggest downfall of the game... EA's DRM in Spore....

3 installs.... that's it... if you want to install it more then 3 times you have to call them and ask for activation...

It's supposed to reduce piracy... but when companies do things like that it causes more piracy because... guess what? non of the pirates have to worry about it! how ironic is that?

and IF the game sales don't match what they expected "blame piracy!" HAHAHAHA...grrr

Ugh, I know, I heard. It makes me wonder why it is I paid money to buy the CD, wait until Tuesday, and then only have 3 installs should something go wrong when I could've gotten and been playing the downloadable version yesterday. And as far as I know/heard, that version doesn't have a limit. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if the 3 limit increased piracy of the game, and not just because the pirates don't have to worry about it. Imagine paying $50+ dollars for a game then having a limit on install. Imagine what happens if you run out of that? Will people feel like calling and reactivating it and all that work? No. They're gonna pirate it because it's easier and they don't have to worry about the install limit.

well that 3 install limit sucks...

but i agree, the game elements themselves are kind of lame... not difficult or deep in the slightest, although i just started the space age, but even that seems like it wont be the most in depth.

I still like the game, and it is still very awesome to see your creations and those of others populating this huge game world.

hopefully patches will be released in the future that will enhance gameplay

It's a hard game. How many of you actually play it on hard?

You need to appreciate each level to it's fullest. Don't go rifling through them, enjoy them and meet/kill as many other creatures as possible. I'm glad it doesn't force you into evolution, you can take your time with the game.

I started it this morning after some computer troubles last night and I LOVE IT! So fun, so addicting and pissed that I can't play it right now cause I'm stuck at work.

I am grabbing this fo SHO!

I heard its amazing. I just dont want to buy it yet due to my slight addiction to TF2 at the moment...

:X

i got it the first day at best buy no one was there getting it is all about wii fit better then i thought =) :)

I got it on Sunday and I'm loving it! Definitely worth the $50 (Worth $50 to me anyway) :D
Its just so much fun that everything you do can affect your future.
Making your own creatures, building, and vehicles is a huge plus in the game and practically no one's game will be the same as the next.

I got it too and now my wife wants a copy - I told her that she can play tf2 while I play spore and then we can trade off. Problem is she doesn't play tf2 so that idea is a bust.

I agree with Wally here. It is worth it to me, and I am playing two games concurrently and they are totally different. I have one race that is totally dominate(a Carnivorous predatory race) and the other more outgoing and friendly(Omnivorous and social, though close to adaptable) and both are really fun to play.

And I love the fact you arent forced to the next stage if you dont want to go yet.

Hmm ...

Now to me this all sounds strangely boring - almost like The Sims, but more elaborate. I just don't get it. ( ? ? ? )

Can anyone explain to me what's so fun about it ( or do they have a demo ) - their videos ... didn't really grab my attention.

[NOTE]

I just said it looked like a more complex version of The Sims... and I didn't even know it was made by Maxis.

Nevermind. I don't even care now. :|

I won't buy Maxis anymore - I just don't get hooked by their games. They get stale for me after a week.

But still, *why*?

How much similarity does it have to The Sims?

Based on EA's excellent customer service record, that 3 install limit is just awesome, makes you wanna reinstall it 3 times so you have an excuse to call them just to say "Hi!"
