I use Macromedia Suite, and photoshop.
The bread and butter is mostly in whatever plugins you have for your software, and with the kind of content that we use for gaming and image representation, it's always good to have plenty of fonts.

just use gimp it can do anything PS can

i have both i tend to prefer the workflow in PS but i can get the same stuff done in gimp

i havent been to it in a long time but pixel2life.com should do the job

oh and btw it dosnt matter if the tuturial isnt for cs3 most of the core tools and concpets in photoshop have been the same since before version 7

Ah, thanks man! Really? I didn't know. Photoshop is pretty new for me.

GAH PREMIER. That thing is so extremely buggy, I just do all my effects and editing in After Effects. Harder to do, but doesn't crash every 5 seconds and it doesn't change all my video sizes. Personal preference though I guess, it may be that I have a lot on my comp.
