Is it just me or is halo overrated

It is overrated but I'm not saying its a bad game either.

I have to say that CoD4 or Gears easily beats halo 2 and 3. At first halo 3 was fun, especially the beta, (and the fact i never played halo 2), but about a week or so after it came out, i got bored of it, and went back to gears. I missed the random things your charachter yelled out after you killed someone...and Cole, i like his yelling...im not crazy...or am I.

Heres spontaneous opinion. Perfect Dark for the nintendo 64 is better than both franchises. Halo, and Gears of War.

Halo is.... adequate. Nothing more, nothing less. The only cool concept of the game was the planet/ring thing it took place on.

Definately not anywhere close to being one of the best games of all time.

Halo: Combat Evolved is wonderful. It's one of the best shooters ever. The other Halo games, however, were rushed and overhyped. They're nothing special to me.

Halo was alright. Eh, the first Halo was fun; although, it did get repetitive in the end. Still it was a fun game; not best game of all time by a long shot, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a fun game.

Halo 2 was alright; you got to use two guns at once OMG! and you got to finally fly the banshee, and fighting that Scarab thing was a neat experience. Again, a good game, just not Best Game Ever.

They over hyped Halo 3 so much I never bothered to play it.

imho, the Xbox needs a few more console carrying franchises to solidify it's brand.

halo sucks.. i dont like single player first person shooters though. yes i know halo is multiplayer but the multiplayer on halo3 is lame and halo 2 is only fun for maybe an hour or two before it gets stale. i also dont like the maps on halo except blood gulch (any of them 1 2 or 3)

Halo isn't bad, It's just average. Everything It's done (except Halo Combat Evolved) has been done before and in most cases better. It's something I play with friends in some split screen. But due to the XBL community, I can't really enjoy it.

I think most of you haven't either tried Halo or you are a mean PC gamer. Don't compare Halo with PC shooters, that's just wrong. Compare it with other console FPS and you're probably going to get better scores for Halo than just "ololol Hlo suxxx11!" (overdramatization).
I know Halo is overhyped, I say that myself alot, but it's better than most other games of this genre on a console.

Halo isn't great because of its gameplay, but what it did. Halo CE, for example, was one of the first console games where people would set up LAN parties to play. While this has been done before, Halo was the first one to do it where it appealed to more than just the "hard core gamer" caste.

Halo 2 was one of the first major online console shooters with such a smooth online system. Before this, casual gamers couldn't really play online shooters as they would need to either A) Upgrade or obtain an expensive gaming computer, or B) play one of the less popular games.

Halo isn't great as a game, but its great for what it brought to the table; a solid, multiplayer console shooter. Anyone who says its the "Best Game Ever" probably just heard it from some techie who stated the above reasons and ran with it.
