Screenshots below. I'll edit this post whenever I make new ones, probably won't be for awhile.

:D I'm working on a map, four control points. Desert-ish themed, except on the inside of the hotel building (of course.) So far, i've got half of Control Point 1 done...I know i'm doing all the details before the functionality, but oh well.

I'm new to mapping, this will actually be my first map if/when I finish it.
So i'd appreciate comments/suggestions.
I'd like this to be a good fun map for everybody, and every class. :D

The screenshots below are of Blu, the invading team, spawn for first cap and the surrounding immediate area.
-
For the first cap, BLU must take out RED's defences and hold their own, else RED could easily fall out of the sky (from their roof, actually) and retake their positions. But if BLU builds, it's another story.
-
From there, BLU will have to climb and hold their way up the hotel's fire escape(s) at the side of the hotel, and get to the other end of the roof, where Cap 1 is located.

BLU's spawn room (I'll add a wall to protect players better later on.)

Just outside of BLU's spawn, Cap point 1

looks great! i don't think i'd stop there on a road trip, though :-P

Honestly, I dont think it has that TF2 feel. Its too realist looking and not the cartoonish TF2 look. :S

It's amazing how hard it is to try and make an interesting looking map (detailed & believable) yet without introducing that real-life grit in the process. Much respect to Valve for conceiving, designing, and implementing it. :)

Hey! I think I've stayed there before. Just a few tips if you are going to visit:

Don't drink water from the faucet, the ice machine gives yellow ice, don't flush twice in a row or you'll get sewage in your room, the phones don't work, the A/C is loud and takes forever to start, the wallpaper is peeling, there are water stains everywhere, the valet is really some homeless guy who'll pee in your back seat, they don't take credit cards, the nearest gas station and restaurant is 40 miles away, there are roaches in the mattress and in the ceiling boards, the bathrooms either don't have mirrors or they are broken (depends om which room), your shower water temperature is either surface-of-the-sun-hot or dark-side-of-Pluto-cold and then you only get 2 minutes of water before it runs out, there's an odd smell someplace that nobody knows what or where it is, the local police use the south side of the building for overflow of inmates and they don't serve anything for breakfast.

All in all, not a bad place.

Yea, I strived to make it conform to the TF2 theme as much as possible, but it just wouldn't come out right. Someone who understands :D

I think it's the func_dustclouds that make it feel less and less TF2ish. And I was naughty and used some HL2 textures !chair
Still, this is my first map, maybe i'll get better.

I'm finishing up Cap Point 1 tonight. I think i'll have a beta ready in 1-2 weeks.

Yep, it's a once 5 star hotel, but it's a little run down now-a-days.

And it also boasts a WOODEN FIRE ESCAPE. :D
