Okay, so I'm stuck 22 miles north of Galveston with Ike due in here tomorrow and I ain't running (Would John Wayne?).

My sister goes to College at College Station, which is smack-dab in the path of this thing. She's coming home tomorrow, but her roommate is staying there. I feel bad for the people who had to evacuate. And at least you're not by the coast Starbuck, or you'd be screwed (20ft waves = bad things to come).

Good luck to anyone else who lives there or around there.
 
You know College Station is like 3-4 hours off the coast right? :-P I live in The Woodlands... might be rough here.. shouldn't be as bad as Galveston will be.

Looks like it may not be as bad as they made out. Still gonna be interesting. I'm 22 miles north of Galveston.

yeah i'm on my way to work. two days ago (wednesday) we were making preperations to move all all of our inmates (cuz it was coming right for us) but then we lucked out and it started moving towards you :(

so we're just on stand by right now. and we sent alot of officers up there to help with evacuations, i haven't watched the news since yesterday, so don't know what its doing now :-/
 
Be safe

I know the feeling because I have been in three hurricanes here in South Florida.
I was looking out one of my upstairs windows and watched a 7 to 8 pound clay barrel tile blow off of my second story roof. It was scary.

Sun is out but Galveston is getting flooded by storm surge. Hurricane pushes water ahead of it into bays and inlets.

Good luck...I know how bat it gets, am from PR(caribbean) an i have live through many hurricanes, be safe.
 
I dodged a bullet on that one since i live in south florida. Hope everyone who is getting hit to be safe and dont do anything i wouldnt do (I know... that doesnt leave alot).
 
14:05 CDT The eye is coming right here. Outer bands just coming in. I've been through 7 of these things but this one looks like a mean SOB.Couldn't leave if I wanted to. Every hotel room from here to a radius of 300 miles or more is booked.

Good luck bud, and yeah, like RED said, if its possible, post some pictures .. but don't endanger your self to do it.

After digging around, I found some decent webcams located in various spots around Galveston (or however you spell it)

Some take a little while to load, but you can get the idea.
The last one seems to be the most stable, and I'm pretty sure those palm trees shouldn't have a foot of water at the base of them ;)
