We boarded up all of the windows on my house... stocked up plenty of food & water... portable generator, flashlights, batteries... and we live somewhat on top of a hill (not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing... we won't flood, but the winds might take the roof off >.< ) wish us luck!

Okay, so I'm stuck 22 miles north of Galveston with Ike due in here tomorrow and I ain't running (Would John Wayne?).
!bang

I shall report until either my power dies or.....

BUT if anything happens to me....

Tech

Wow tech your so stubborn lol Why can't you just go to a shelter like everybody else?

God bless, I hope everything goes ok and that nothing happens to you.

Same to you starbuck... and shelter... psh shelters, hunker down! I used to Lifeguard for the YMCA! I know CPR! :) Ike ain't got nothin on me!

West Houston, reporting in. So far wind as knocked out the power of only one side of my house on and off continuously. Heavy winds expected, heavy wind expected. HOUSE IS MADE OF BRICK, heck yes! The only worry I have is for the roof. I don't expect deadly rain or flooding, the wind is what worries me.

Wind advisory has been expanded to include my neck of the woods. Tropical storm force winds expected.

I just made it through one here in Marrero La. Which is south and closer to the gulf than New Orleans We just improved our levee system to 8' and it held with water right to the top I sugest to anyone that you leave. It's the smart thing to do. But it's to late for you to leave, have a backup plan if something happens to your house maybe a neighbor has a stronger house! Your going to find the biggest problem is going to be after the hurricane pases No electricty no gas stations no grocery stores no water sewage backing up and who knows how long these will be out.Go right now and fill your bath tubs with water you will need this water to flush your toilets. All of these thing that I'm warning you about are from experience not just scare tatics. Good Luck my prayers will be with you and your family.

Life is fine here, we just cleaned and got our power back. Everything is pretty normal now. Cept my fan likes to make funny sounds now.

Talked to Sgt. Starbuck today on the cell his power is out. He is ok but pretty miserable because of no power he me to tell everyone he is ok for now.

Good luck buddy. Luckily for me, i live in Canada. Away from all natural disasters except from the rare tornado.

Well, Ike is finished. I go to school in Marshall, TX and I came back home (Paris, TX) for the weekend. I hear that the whole city of Marshall is out of power and the school I go to (TSTC) is closed tomorrow, possibly longer.

In Marshall I heard it was hellacious. Here in Paris... well, I've seen worse thunderstorms.
