echo and static problem

Hey Cory,
Try and make sure that your mic settings both on your computer and in your steam games is set properly and do the self test in your game setting to see if you notice the static as well.
Is the mic connect via USB or does it use the headphone/mic jacks to plug in? If you have another place on your computer you can try to plug it in please try that just so we can test to see if the issue might be at the port(s).
Lastly, looking over the mic/headphone cord are there any cuts, bends or ties in the cord? Because that could make the sound quality poor or permanantly damage the cord so there is nothing more that you can do other than like Beta said and unfortunately have to pruchase another mic.
