Spore seems horrible. Anyways. Whatever.
Games by Maxis are terrible.
Spore is made by Maxis.
Therefore Spore is terrible.
The good thing about the "sim" titles is they would run on garbage for hardaware. The funny thing about those older titles (simcity) is that once your city got "big" - the comp would slow to a crawl - just showing you what garbage development went into the title.
Combine the "I know what their previous games are like" with the DRM and you've got a festering trash bin overflowing with "game".
Seriously, EA had the ball in their hands with the online and downloadable content, but they pulled out a knife and slashed the ball. They ruined the game for everyone. There's absolutely no reason spore should have DRM. EA sucks.
So what's coming next? spore nightlife. spore sports. spore university. spore retirement home. spore hospital. spore weekend. spore dig your own grave and bury yourself. spore I wish this game was never invented edition - with boredom renewal kit.
I'll be waiting for the: "I've had enough of spore and all these stupid expansions, with free cyanide pills".
Spore looked very interesting, but I will not be buying it due to the DRM restrictions. Quote from an article on PCmag.com:
Like the PC version of Mass Effect before it, Spore's DRM limits owners to only three activations of the game after installation. The point is to prohibit software pirates from sharing and reusing activation codes over and over, but it also means that if a user happens to uninstall and reinstall Spore more than three times for completely legitimate reasons, they'll have to contact Electronic Arts customer support to request and have approved a new authentication on a case-by-case basis.
Of course. According to EA only 1% of us actually use our PCs.
My theory is they're underhandedly using this DRM to enforce the nontransferable license. So when you find out "doh, spore sucks" and give it a friend or sell it on ebay - the person you give it to is not entitled to use it according to the EULA.
Read the EULA. To transfer means to sell or give away in legal-speak. Non-transferable means you're not allowed to sell it or give it to someone else.
That's dirty, and low.
This is to keep up the retail price and kill the secondary market for their garbage games.
