I started to reply elsewhere but didn't want to take things off topic :)

using alternate skins was often considered a cheat in Unreal Tournament because people would make invisible skins or modify them in such a way as to make enemies more obvious. As I understand, using the sv_pure switch on the server disables custom local skins.

I've seen custom skins come up several times in threads... are custom skins on eGO servers permitted? how about most other servers? if so, what are some of people's favs? :)
 
I have seen custom skins working on most of eGO's servers. My most favourite and most frequent server I play on is eGO's 2fort (not the instant respawn one).
 
Other people can't see skins you use can they?

Like if I got the Stickybomb skin that looks like dice, only I can see it?
 
I used to use custom skins, until i downloaded a female scout, which turned out to suck. So i tried to change it back, and when i deleted the files for my scout, hoping the steam/valve would just redownload them, like on CS:S. It didnt turn out too well, my scout was deformed :/
 
I've been planning on getting the Green replacement for BLU, but I'm gonna try and get it to replace RED instead :D
And there's a female Scout? o_O

Yes, there is, but it's on FPSBanana, and i don't have the exact url.
 
I've tried to get this awesome Syringe Gun skin that has one of those heart rate monitors on the side with the beeps and everything. It didnt work out too well tho :(
 
I'm fine with skins as long as you don't use that stupid sniper skin that removes the black area around the scope when you zoom in.

I personally have the:

Engineer Piss-Off Device (Sapper replacement)
AWESOME Masks (Spy mask replacement)
Scout Killsaw (Baseball bat replacement)
Cheeseburger (Sandvich replacement)
Cherrywood Sniper or whatever (Sniper rifle replacement. Makes the sniper dot into a ring with a dot in the dead-center. Also looks cooler.)
