Some proof that next update is going to be a spy update.

Scout

Scout is plenty useful on 2fort. Even if the other base is filled with sentries, you can usually hang out in the open zones and own unaware medics. Scout is also the second best defense against spies on 2fort.

The spy needs an update, but not a radical one. I'm hoping it will be like the heavy update and not like the original pyro update.

Hah. I laugh at you.

Scout is good for moving over and around shots and taking out medics supplying their teammates.

Just yesterday on Turbine in the left tunnel I jumped over and around demoman nades and heavy minigun bullets to take out the Heavy's supporting medic, and then again right after to take out the demoman!

Besides, Scout and Spy are the one of the greatest teams on 2fort. Spies sap the sentry nest continuously while the Scout sprints in and grabs the intel, then runs for it. Hopefully getting out and away from their spawns.
 
I've seen scouts used very well on Dustbowl, Warpath, and Goldrush. If you play scout head on like a Soldier or Pyro, well of course they are worthless. However, if you use Scouts as dodge and weave, jump around, hide and seek, you can do some serious damage. That Scattergun isn't just a shotgun, it's a much more powerful shotgun. Scout vs Engie or Pyro or even a soldier or demo has very good odds one on one, especially when he gets the drop on them.

I'm not a very good Scout player, but I've played against them (yes, you are one of them In(e) =) and they can be quite tough and powerful.

With that said, i think spy or engie updates would be sweet.

A spy update would be neat, as I'm just getting into the groove of the Spy, but I'd really actually like the spy update to come much later.. at least behind Scout and Engie.

I say this because Spy is a really fiddly class, and nearly every character update ends up making life as a spy suck more and more. Especially anything that the Engie gets.

I'd just hate for spy to get a premature update, get all kinds of shiny stuff, only to discover that all his new toys become less fun after the Engie and Scout get their updates :D

However, this doesn't rule out Spy Tweaks; one of which would be less vulnerability while decloaking... you get spychecked while cloaked and you pretty much have to just die unless you get really, really, really lucky, because decloaking takes too long, and running away takes too long...
 
I'd love to see Scout myself, but Spy would be neat.

I don't know what they could upgrade.

Disguise is pretty basic already, Revolver is quite powerful as well, Knife can instant-kill from behind, and Cloak is more of a special attack kinda thing. Can't remember for the life of me of their last weapon/item.

Engineer would be nice. If they gave the same pistol to Scout from the Engineer they might be able to lessen the work they need on both classes. Maybe two classes can get updates at the same time, hehe.
 
I don't believe this is conclusive evidence. They may be hinting at it; however, i think that there aren't many greetings MAGGOTS! WANK-A! wouldn't be proper things to say on an official blog imo

Just off the top of my head, I don't have any real info:

1) Disguise Upgrade: When disguised and set on fire, you ignite, but then get put out. Attentive Spy Checkers will still see you light up, but you won't be running away from a pyro, on flame, crying for Medic, hoping nobody noticed so you can get healed up.

2) Gun Upgrade: A silencer, which allows you to fire it while cloaked. Your cloak will shimmer when it happens, but it allows you to fight back while decloaking/cloaking/running from pyro. It will still drop your costume, if you are not cloaked, however. Reduced damage or accuracy when using the silencer.

3) Cloak Upgrade (if it's an upgrade): Faster cloak/decloak.

4) Sapper Upgrade: Liked the idea from the fake Spy site; Magneto-Sapper, which turns buildings off, requires 4 hits to remove, but does no damage... just shuts buildings off.

5) Knife Upgrade (from TF-Classic): If you successfully backstab somebody, you quickly switch disguises to the backstabbed person. (Costume and Name)

Just off the top of my head; only playtesting could make sure these don't mess up the game mechanics too much.
 
heh i agree, i'd like to see more scouts in game, not enough. But i still like the spy so either way i'd have fun lol.
 
i hope they come out with a scout update, its fun to make people mad with him, and im particularly an OK scout.
 
So what if the next update is neither spy nor demo? I wonder if we look back at past developer blogs we'll see if they leaked any hits prior to announcing the pyro and heavy updates.

Anyway, when Valve decides to finally do the Sniper update it will be a very happy day because there is no doubt in my mind that they will also roll out a modified version of the VIP-escort maps. Those were soooo much fun.

I'm guessing that one of the sniper updates will be a weaker, rapid-reloading sniper rifle. One where you can reload without having to look away from the scope. It should either be a weaker rifle or have a very limited clip that holds maybe 5-10 rounds.

Whatever the update is, I hope it reaches us soon!
 
Now that we're wrapping up that work, we'll be returning to TF2. We've got a bunch of exciting changes coming down the pipe for the next class update. Feels good to be home again!

Well, think of the order they did it.

Pyro (Attack)
Medic (Support)
Heavy (Defense)

I suspect it'll keep that pattern as Attack as well. So either Soujah or Scout.
 
lets have the next update be someone descent someone everybody uses :)

Untill we see another few classes we can't guarantee that that's a pattern.


Plus Medic was the first one.

Me and Auto talked about that once. We thought maybe a Barret for the Sniper, faster load on the power bar, less ammo, automatic, and maybe longer to reload. Only 10 bullet, 5 per pack. I just want a friggin Barret on the field really, lol.

SMG gets switched with a AK-74 or a Mini-Uzi. And the Knife....Becomes a Boomerang I guess. Nothing to really change there.
