A big public thanks to NinjaFluff, recently I made a post about a new toy, a Nikon D80 and he replied:

"Ooh, is that the new D90?"

I was like "WHAAT?, what D90?

Well I didn't know anything about the D90 which came out 5 days after I bought the D80...

After debating whether I should settle or upgrade I finally decided to get it and here it is, my new NEW toy....the D90.

For the record, the retail store decided NOT to charge me 15% restocking fee for returning the other one, I am a good customer there... tee hee.

In short:

D90 = 12MP / First DSLR with HD Video / High ISO sensor and shutter speed.

It is nice, as nice a Nikon can be. Get out there and take some shots.

PS: I use Canon. Nikon !chair Canon
 
Canon Nikon....Nikon Canon....the photographer makes the difference not the camera.

although this one has HD video...so yeah....ehem...

Its true, its not the camera at the end result, for the most part.

The camera taking HD video is really dumb. Canon is releasing an updated 5d to do that as well. The SLR format works for a reason. Why not buy a top notch HD video camera and just pull stills from that? Its like taking portraits with a rangefinder when you can use a view camera.
 
Well Frank for a while I thought it was a dumb idea to include video with a DSLR but come to think of it, sometimes all you need is a bit of video for a report or reference, I for one would not like to carry a video camera and a DSLR with me so I guess it is just there for occasional use.

So far so good and the quality is amazing. I will only use it if it is absolutely necessary. You may also consider that this may very well be the beginning of a new type of camera and also the versatility of shooting video with different types of lenses for a specific purpose which you cannot do with a consumer HD camera.

Now in terms of photography I think the type of camera helps in this case DSLR vs. Point and Shoot, it is after all a tool but the photographer makes the difference.
 
In addition, you can achieve certain effects with SLR's and SLR lenses than you can achieve with a video camera.

However, I think its more of a gimmick, or at least just a casual feature that could be nice to have in addition to the still shooting.

BTW, I shoot with a Canon digital rebel XT, a little old at this point, but a great camera.

Either way, anyone serious about filming will, without a doubt, never use a still camera (at least at this stage of the game) for filming.

Speaking of this... I havent been out for any good shooting in a while, anyone got any inspiration for me?
 
I got a canon eos 400D here..

I'll post some pics I shot at a car show later ;)
