Spy techniques

I love playing Spy, and yes patience is definitely key. I've played "rogue" classes since DAoC and it was nothing for me to spend over an hour tracking an enemy waiting for the right opportunity. It really is satisfying deep down... in their back.

Steps to Killing someone as spy:
1: Find target, preferably a Pyro since a Spy's hatred for a Pyro burns hotter than there flamethrowers
2: Disguise as a Medic or Scout and follow the target
3: When the target figures out that your not on his teams slash at his face hoping you'll get that lucky facestab before he kills you

REAL tips to killing someone as a spy:
1: Try and get behind big groups with slow moving classes like a bunch of Heavies defending a payload, only strike when they're distracted with your team.
2: Disguise as a class and act like the class, ex: Disguise as a Sniper and go near a sniper perch, disguise as a Engineer and stay back and pretend to patrol etc.
3: Stab your target before you reach them, this prevents the long backstab animation, it takes practice but you'll get the hang of it.
4: Avoid disguising as Medics and Scouts because you walk a lot slower than a Scout and you don't have your ubercharge meter as a Medic, making you easily detectable.

Have fun and keep practicing :D

Has any of you seen this?

It has good thing for dealing with Engineers.

P.S. I laughed on 6:45

This is how you play Spy. ;)

Not me, but super awesome!

tip: there are TONS of shortcuts in the game so find them, get used to them, master them, and use them in battle
(some shortcuts can get u from 1 side to the other, without being near an enemy)

btw im not dead yet...just junior year...

Advice I think is valid:
Learn every trick and technique you can, some techniques will be used the most, but the alternative tricks can also be the more perfect solution to the situation.

One thing to remember with your fancy knife is that you do still have a revolver, a really nice revolver. When you think the back is too elusive on that engie you still can go for the kill by sapping and shooting him down with 3 well placed bullets.

Hilariously enough there is a fun variant on chainsapping I figured out a week ago. With quickswitch on (so that those annoying weapon icons don't show up and then you select the weapon) you are fast enough to sap the sentry, whip out your revolver and take a shot, then whip the sapper back out to resap the sentry as soon as it becomes unsapped. You'll only go through 3-4 sap attempts this way. Or he'll figure out midway that you are infact what needs a wrenching, in this case you have your revolver ready to greet him (while running away of course, why? Well... *crit*).

Another fun thing to do is when an engineer has gotten himself into a corner, and uses the buildings to wall himself in, you can sap all of his stuff and bring the revolver on him while he is stuck in his own coffin.

For running away/gunfight purposes, remember that engineers and all of his 125 HP club buddies take 3 shots (40-60 damage range dependant), with the random factor imagine that pyros, demos, and soldiers will take 4-5 shots and reload every time you hit cover. Your revolver reloads so fast you might as well take that second of him trying to get line of sight to be at 6 shots again.

And listen to what most of the people here are saying, they're giving solid advice, and really good youtube links to watch.
