External HD

I'm looking into getting another external HD. Right now I've got a WD first gen 1 TB and a WD 500 GB ES.

Here's what I'm thinking of getting

Total cost is something like $250 for 2 TB. What do you guys think?

If your system has an eSATA port get that instead.

I have eSATA ports, but I'd prefer the drive to be plug and play with a variety of computers, and I don't need massive speed, so I opted for the USB connection.

Not a bad combo.
I used to do what you are doing, which is buy a external case and drop the hdd right in.
But ever since WD's ext hdd's I've just been buying those. I've 4 in the office and 5 at home. None have failed yet.

They stay on all the time as well.
