So is anyone fairly certain of which class gets the next achievments?

I've heard a lot of talk about spy. Some objections as well.

Personally I can't wait for engie achievments, but im guessing they will save those for last ><.

Wait and see. All the classes will get their turn, does it matter which one is next?

Engie update will be the worst 2 weeks in TF2 history.

24/36 man everyone sitting there summoning level 3 SG's.

WOO

However, the Spy only has 2 items to upgrade: Revolver and Butterfly Knife (check his inventory, it doesn't list the sapper or disguise case.), so what they may do is take 2 classes which are natural enemies and update them together.

Spy & Engie. The Spy only has 2 items so this makes sense. The engie by itself would be drat terrible to play with, so with Spies roaming around it won't be as bad.

imo anyways.

they might give the spy an unlockable ability that also degrades from his current abilities instead of a 3rd unlock

im not guna like the spy update...everyone will be spy checked, and half of them will be spys :S

I personally think spies deserve the update. The revolver isn't that good and i'm really reluctant to use it, and the butterfly knive, to kill effectively, you have to manuver behind a person to stab them and be k.o'd by a sg. Spy update pl0x.

While I agree with you that spies should be next in line, it is fairly apparent that you don't play spy all that much anyway. The revolver is a surprisingly powerful weapon with great accuracy even at longer ranges. Also no normal spy is going to backstab anyone within the range of an enemy sentry...that's just crazytalk. And the knife can be used from above as well as behind and there are tons of different ways to "maneuver" behind people that are sneaky enough to get you by.

Bottom line.....play spy more! It's a great class and I suspect it'll be even better after the update!

The engie update is gonna be nothing compared to the sniper update /shudder.

Honestly, the updates have been going smoother. I think the Heavy Update was really nice because there were still a normal amount of heavies, or at least 1 or 2 more than usual, which still isn't much and they quickly swap classes anyways. Pretty much everyone has learned from the past few updates to not be part of the problem and play what they want to rather than flood the server with whatever the updated class may be.

When the medic update came out, there were like.... 5-6 medics per team for like.... 3+ weeks. Pyro's surge lasted about a week or so, and the heavy, I've really not noticed a significant surge in play time.

Granted this may just be the classes, (not everyone likes the heavy), but I think as a whole, people are getting smarter about dealing with the updates, plus Valve reduced the amount of achievements needed for each unlockable item. Just my $.02.

Really I don't care who gets updated next. Valve has pointed out they have a very clear process for picking who goes next. It's not just a random draw. I've liked all the updates we've had so far.

And for those who don't like the flooding of one class, I refer you to our thread on the cap limit for classes, or lack thereof (this is good). Play a counter-class and have fun with it!

It will probly be something that isn't played THAT much, maybe spy/scout somethin like that. Im hopin demoman but that wont happen probly :P

PS Hityoface nice avatar haha

Apparently, I'm not normal cause I totally do that. And live. I love killing engineers with their own sentry gun.

If the next update is spy, I hope there is a huge class surge, Easy pickins 4 pyro !chair

I'm sure they will think of something in absence of the 3rd weapon. Maybe a dual weild revolver for his left hand, or a wall climb! ><

Man I can't wait... whatever it is. The dev team on this game is just as amazingly awesome as the game itself.

=(e)= shootme4crits

I hope it's going to be something new and interesting instead of "slower weapon that deals more damage" or "slower weapon that poisons the enemy" or something ;D

I still like the idea of a knife that restores cloak with backstabs, but does half damage and a slower attack rate or no damage with non-backstabs. It'd be neat.

While trying to avoid sounding like Debbie Downer I think the updates will still be as the previous pro/con format.

While cool updates for the classes are great imho game balance take a much higher priority. I am fairly confident that valve will continue to apply give and take to the updates as not to make one class op.

That being said I have loved the new medi gun and the new flame thrower just the right amount of tweakage to make it new and excited but preserve game balance. I am not sure what they will do with engie and scout but I would hazard to guess they wont be tweaking the shot gun.

Honestly my guess will be a wrench upgrade to a faster building/non-weapon melee (Similiar benefit as the sandvich) Maybe an impact gun or a arc welder :)

Sniper update I predict a scope change that gives a different sight reticule, no change in function. Maybe cross hairs or digital. What would be cool but op would be laser guided rockets, sniper and soldier working together :) But that wont happen.

I honestly have no idea on scout, they are set up perfectly for the class, unless they give him a louisville slugger, slower swing higher damage lol.

Soldier, give this guy a alt-fire lock ability takes precious time to lock but can hit long range targets, (Countered by sniper)

Just a few ideas, got to run :)

I'm personally wanting a soldier update. A faster firing rocket launcher. With more rocket capacity. (But less damage on the downside, or something like that) Then the secondary weapon as grenades. (I dont know what pros/cons that would have, i havent thought about it any.) And the melee weapon to be a trench knife, or whatever its called. (You know, the ones that were used during WWI. The combination of brass knuckles and a knife.)

All they really need since they're greatest problem is the class not being novice friendly, is a Silenced Revolver that can be fired while cloaked (removes disguise, but not cloak), but does maybe 20% less damage, for people who fail at using the cloak, and the Team Fortress Classic Knife, which automatically instantly puts you in the disguise & name of whoever you backstab with it, but maybe cause you to lose 5 seconds of Cloak or something. This makes people who suck at disguising have something to help them out.

Also they need the following fixes:
-Long backstab animation needs to go, or be changed to hit damage -> animation, instead of vice versa.
-Cabinets need to restore Cloak. Every other class gets 100% filled by them, why not Spy.
-Medic disguise needs a random ubercharge %, so it isn't bloody useless.

Otherwise they are peachy. I'd like to see a TFC Sapper (doesn't disable & destroy, but rather takes control of after 3 seconds (doesn't disable at all.), but only requires 1 hit to be removed (to add a con)) but the sapper or disguise case isn't in their inventory, so. :P

Spy is pretty much the most balanced class in the game. Tons of weaknesses but none that are overpowering completely, and can all be removed by skillful play of the player, has a good learning curve to where novices can do okay, but pros can do very very good, and their entire mechanic revolves around skill on the other team as well. The worse the enemy team is, the better the spy is (this holds true for all classes, but it's far more apparent with the Spy). They work really well.
