Warpath woes . . .

Hello everyone. I'll get to the point right away: Warpath is in trouble. It is having problems getting filled, and also staying full through a lot of hours of the day. If Warpath doesn't start turning around, we could end up changing the map on that server. Warpath has long been a favorite here at eGO and we want everyone to have the maps they enjoy playing on. If we don't get Warpath back up to where it was, we may just start using a different map. That doesn't mean we'll do away with it all together, but it won't be a dedicated map. If you want to see it stay all the time, get in and play :) If not, by all means let us know. We want to have the maps people want to play on and we've got a lot of servers that can accomodate that.

Im looking at Warpath right now, from the server listings on the left...and its empty at the moment. :( This is at 4:20am Aus Est Std time, where it's usually full.

Guys, please, even if you dont feel like playing, at least connect to Warpath and spec there. Any help in filling would be greatly appreciated. :)

I'll spec there where I'm not playing, but I'm not going to spend my playing time on a map I don't enjoy...sorry.

TheZaw at your service! I'll be on warpath whenever i can. Let's keep the server full!

Warpath is usually my first choice of map and its always full when I am in there. I'll try and spec when I'm doing other things, but that would make me sad to see it go. I'm sure AzzNik would agree.

Given the attitude about making posts concerning what maps the servers play, I'm calling BS on this.

And in reference to Hardhat, filling the server with people who aren't even playing is going to make it worse, not better.

Bit of an overreaction, no? Of course we want maps that everyone enjoys; we don't want posts whining about how convoy isn't here anymore.

Stats tell all; we could have people here who love warpath, but if it isn't full all the time, then it's evident that not ENOUGH people love warpath. most of the other servers are constantly full, which means that whatever map they are on is entirely popular.

I know for a fact that edgegamers supports new maps and other such things, because there have been a few tests of MY maps, and we are running dragonhill's map right now in a dedicated 24/7. not only do we support the mapping community, but we also put maps out there that everyone loves to play.

Agreed with Dread's post. I'm pretty sure that most people can find an eGO Server that they love. I know I have. Warpath just isn't doing as well as usual, it's nothing to get angry about.

This is my favorite server and would be quite sad if it was gone, so looks like I'll have to play more :) I haven't had consistent TF2 time recently, but usually I'm free an lunch PST. I'll try to give it a boost then.

I never thought Warpath would be in trouble, im blown away.

That could be very true, people on the server who aren't there to play could be bad, or could be good. Helping the server get started is one thing, staying on there AFK for hours and hours means something is up.

Play on the server that you want to play on, seed the server for a little bit and then go play somewhere else. It's not worth seeding if nobody is going to play. Follow me?

However, the seeding people get kicked after the server is up to a certain fullness. The seeds are only there to get the server onto people's radars; they go away when the server is filled with players. This is really a non-issue in my mind; if you see a server that is empty, go fill it, even if you are just going to sit AFK. once you are no longer needed, you're kicked. makes sense to me.

I like Warpath. It just gets boring after awhile, because it requires such a large balancing between teams. The better the teams are balanced, the more fun it is.

Also, couldn't we upgrade to Warpath 3 or something? Or whatever the newest version is? I like the ramps in the newer version. Well, sorta.

I don't think I ever played warpath, I am a pretty sheltered TF2er though. There's just something about the simplicity of 2Fort that says "win" to me :)

More likely I am just a lazy sack of old bones comfortable in my naivety.

Does anyone that plays Warpath have any suggestions in how it could be made more playable? New map version? We want constructive advice here because contrary to some people's beliefs we actually care about what the community wants. Bottom line if we dont get this issue fixed then the server will change maps, unless somebody has 80 bucks a month lying around they want to give eGO for an empty server featuring Warpath.

The community pays for these servers, if the server doesnt stay full then its a waste of money in my opinion. I remember once before when warpath had problems, the community got together and got it into the top 20 servers in the world. I guess folks got tired of it again or something, but if we need to change the way the map is set up ie: sudden death melee, shorter/longer respawn times or a different map version then stand up and say something.

Dont just come in this thread and whine about how we dont care, because we really do and ive got a pissed off wife to prove that I do ;)

To be honest, I think some of the lull has to do with the fact that school has started. It was right around the middle of August that I noticed the population change on the server. Of course, that just makes things more difficult to remedy unless we can convince a lot of people to drop out... However, I would suggest that if we do have to get rid of Warpath for now, we should consider bringing it back towards the middle to end of November, and if that does well, maybe bring it back next May for the Summer, too.

I wouldn't mind the sudden death being brought back, except I recall it causing some technical problems on the server. I also might suggest shorter round times. There's something really discouraging to me getting down to that last point and having to defend it for 20+ mins. Not sure how others feel on that.

I wasn't aware there was another version of Warpath out. I'll find a server with it tonight and give it a try and let you know what I think.

I guess that is an idea (changing the capture times so that a "long" push might be 10 mins instead of 20), although i'm not sure how it would play out. Interesting idea though.

I can't really think of anything else. At least that change would force faster round times. It might be worth a try. Sudden death, i think, would be kinda kewl as well.

Warpath is definitely my favorite (as is btw), but to keep it alive I'd be willing to try those changes.

ps- If I think of anything else, I'll post after the kids have gone to bed.

I have to admit: the childish, immature side of me really wants to see a sudden death melee server. Frankly, the grown-up, mature me kinda does also. It would spice up the eGO servers, because a) we don't have one, and b) it might save a map that's going downhill fast.

What if sudden death melee doesn't save it? well, we can kick it for another map. I agree with tattis though; if we change it now, it might be worth trying warpath out in another couple of months to see what's happening.
