My dentist sucks.

So, I went to my dentists today because in one of my few remaining teeth (Yeah, 17 and I've lost most of my teeth. Mostly in part to the fact me parents never took me to a dentist until I was like 11 or 12.) I've been having pain problems. He found that the tooth has a huge hole almost right down to the nerve. He gave me two options: Root canal or pull. I'd really like to keep the tooth if it's savable, so I said 'root canal.' We got the operation out of the way, then he told me something he failed to mention before. I assumed I had already grown my wisdom teeth, as the teeth farthest in the back of my mouth only came in like a year or so ago. Well, after the root canal he FINALLY told me that I hadn't, and that one of my wisdom teeth is right next to the tooth I just had a root canal in, and it's under the gums but it is slanted, and when it comes out its 90% likely to crack and ruin the tooth I just had the root canal in, and that they couldn't remove the wisdom tooth surgically because the tooth next to it is still there. I really wish he told me that this tooth was going to die in the first place.. and right now, I can't afford to have it pulled which would really save me a lot of grief.

Don'tcha just hate doctors who don't tell you things that could save a lot of trouble until its too late? !bang

That's a bad dentist. Being that he took an Xray on your bad tooth he should of told you immediately about your wisdom tooth below it... there is honestly no way he could of missed that wisdom tooth in the xray.

I've gotta go to the dentist tomorrow, but today I overstretched my jaw and I can't open it more than an inch or I'll die from pain :/

Ah. I didn't think about taking it to the courts... but I actually have enough proof, the x-rays are proof enough... So as soon as I can I'm going to report this.

Implants would be nice if I can get the money The one good thing (I guess.. I'd still have ALL my real teeth) is I can still eat for the most part because I've got me canines. (And that's the last of my real ones I still have to eat things a bit more carefully though.)

I had one of the absolute worst childhood dentists. He specialized in children's care, and hated kids! He used to shine this bright light in my face, which made me want to fall asleep,then scream at me to stay awake. The nurses would cringe and felt sorry for me, and his behavior, you could see it in their faces. Oooooh, he was horrible.

My second dentist was a relative, and that guy's polar opposite. After cleaning my teeth, he gave me a shot of NO2 gas to "see how'd I react" (since that's what he used for many operations) . I spent the next hour grinning at the nurse and trying to make a pass at her (and I was only 14 ). Now, THAT's a good dentist \o/

Id talk to a lawyer and see what can be done, I think you could at least get them to cover the cost of the procedure you need to get everything all fixed.
Then again, you probably signed some waiver clearing them of all possible screw ups.
You'd really just have to talk to a lawyer about it.

I myself am going through some crap dental issues, i have an overbite which will eventually turn into a problem where my jawbone will grind away, so i have to have my jaw broken at some point to fix said overbite. At the same time however, i need to get my wisdom teeth out. It really sucks.

I wish i could have all my real teeth removed and like...surgically put in fake ones, so id have a perfect set of teeth without all the worry, fuss and problems.

That does suck Im sure you could get him with some sort of malpractice or negligence at least to cover the amount to pull that tooth.
