Pop vs Soda

I call it Soda, and pretty much everyone in Las Vegas calls it a soda, but when I go visit my grandma in California, everyone I know calls it a Coke.
 
How is pop in any way descriptive of a carbonated drink? Maybe that it pops in your mouth?
At least coke is a carbonated drink, even if it may be referring to a specific one.
And soda tends to be used quite often as well..
Although I'm against saying pop, there's NOT really a correct way to say it, it's merely regional.
Although if you want to be silly you can just say fizzy drink :D
 
I sued to call it soda... until Wally and a few others in vent started to call it SOAP (a mix between soda and pop)....
 
Me and my family learned to call it Coke, we live in Ohio now and everyone else calls it pop but its imbedded in my brain man...MY BRAIN!!!

My grandma calls it pop. Its soda people. And considering this is going by location, i live in central Texas.
 
Lol, I usually call it pop or sodapop. But in maryland everyone else just says soda xD
 
That was probably the coolest graph I've seen in a long time. I travel on business all the time and I'd have to say the graph is pretty spot on. I'm from Oklahoma so I'm in COKE-ville. To avoid the confusion I just order beer instead. My inability to deal with the potential confrontation from using the word 'Coke' is leading to the death of my liver.

heh, I usually say soda or coke, because I mainly drink coke :P
I remember when I went to visit my aunt up in Ohio (I live in Florida), she asked if i wanted some pop, and I just stared at her clueless ;D
