Free Source Mods Round Up!

I am an avid fan of Zombie Panic: Source. Very fun. I understand your point about players camping, but as you become a better zombie that becomes less of a problem.

Back in December with my group of regulars I was infamous for saying on the mic "Om Nom Nom" whenever I killed someone as a zombie.

I think it's time to look back into Hidden for me. I liked the concept but never got into it.

I would like to add a few.

you can find all these in Moddb.com

1. Combine Destiny - In this game you are playing as the combine, quite fun, graphics are nice.

2.Empires, - you can find this in Steam Store under Game Mods.

3 Half-Life 2 : Riot Act - Find this in Steam Store under Game Mods.

4. Zombie Master - Also in Steam

More soon.

Thanks,
=(e)= Diamond

just to add to the great list.....golden eye source mod is pretty cool and i think it deserves a little recognizition

D.I.P.R.I.P. is great but I can't find any servers with playable ping to me (I live in Brazil) :/

I have played most all of theses mods, I like Age of Chivalry, Hidden Source, and Zombie panic the most :)

Hey, I just thought of two more to add in that I have played and enjoyed.

1) Fistful of Frags: Official Site

This western mod is one of a kind and sets you up for authentic wild west action! Several guns to choose from and a few neat fast paced game modes keep your barrels spinning and the lead flying. Use your "reputation" to get access to better guns and equipment. Be a famous law dog over the most ruthless villain to ride in the saddle.

Pros: Great Western Theme, good game modes.

Cons: Small fan base, steep learning curve as most of the players are very good.

2) BGMod: Official Site

Like the Revolutionary War? Like Muskets? THIS IS THE MOD FOR YOU!

It's the Colonials vs. the Red Coats in this well done Revolutionary War mod. Most games are team-based and involve objectives for each team to take and hold. Challenging game play as you must choose carefully when to reload your weapons, it takes awhile! Also when you have enough people you can set up line battles, which in this era are epic. Not to mention they are authentic to the time period.

Pros: Great mod, actively developed, large fan base

Cons: This was a mod for the original Half Life, meaning some of the pro players have been playing it for a long time. Steep learning curve as a result.

They take some time to get into but both mods are well worth it in my opinion.

Coven. Its a Vampire Slayer game. Its still in Beta testing, but its real fun :D

can't wait til Black Mesa source comes out...
its Half life sourced beyond awesome

www.resistanceandliberation.com

It is currently in Alpha 4 with Beta right around the corner.

It is currently not available through steam.

Imagine Insurgency but in WWII.

Pros: Highly tactical (not realistic, but based off of realistic elements.) The official maps follow a campaign, and if played in order create a loose storyline. Squad and fire team organized, with classes and limited weapons. Large maps create near-limitless flanking opportunities. Dynamic, non-linear, point-capture game play. Interesting aiming style. Area of effect microphone. Meaning, you have to be in a close proximity in order for teammates to hear you on the microphone. Beware, enemies can also hear you on the microphone if they're close enough!

Cons: Steep learning curve. Requires pubs to cooperate in a team-play manner. Currently in Alpha 4 there are few servers and a handful of dedicated players. (A large portion of the community is currently testing the beta version.) Multiplayer only. No Bots.

If you enjoy games such as:
Insurgency
Day of Defeat:Source
Red Orchestra
ArmA
Operation Flash Point

Then you will likely enjoy this game.

*Note: A group of us INS Division guys (about 7 of us) get on weekend nights and join up on the same team. It's a ton of fun. Meet us in Ventrilo Insurgency room 3 or 4. Or feel free to PM me. We're also showing people the ropes, so if you're frustrated, stop by we may have a few pointers for you.

not only at weekend nights, we're playing it more and more and more :p.
personnaly i am hooked and besides insurgency its the best mod their is, and it has a lot of potential of becoming an even greater mod then insurgency!

its free guys join up with a bunch of guys and test it out, but indeed its a steep learning curve, it will take a while before you can play well, its not a camp and shoot fps, its really tactical and squad based, its probably the most realistic world war 2 fps ever made, games like dods, cod, moh, ... never ever come close to how tactical this game is, not even the tactical world war 2 shooters like for exemple brothers in arms (wich was a very tactical wow2 fps game) are that tactical as this mod.

So if you like squad based tactical world war 2 games then this is the best game that you will ever have played.
