Nothing finalized yet, anything that needs to change? Mobo I'm not at all sold on. Cost is right about where I want to, so keep that in mind.

Case: COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP
Sound: Turtle Beach "Montego 7.1" (TBS-3300-01)
HDD: 2x Seagate 640GB (ST3640323AS)
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16GHz (BX80570E8500)
Mobo: EVGA nForce 790i SLI FTW DIGITAL PWM (132-YW-E180-A1)
Gfx: Asus HD 4870 1GB 256-bit (EAH4870/HTDI/1G)
PSU: Antec NeoPower 650W
RAM: Patriot 4GB (2x2) DDR3 1333 (PDC34G1333LLK)
Optical: Asus combo drive (DRW-2014L1T)

IMO, 7.1 cards are a waste. Unless you have a full 7.1 surround sound setup, there's no need.

The Western Digital 640GB AAKS drives perform better than the Seagates

You might want to get an Intel chipset board if you're planning on going Crossfire in the future

If you're getting DDR3, might as well go balls out and get DDR3-1600

Just thoughts, take them with a grain of salt.

-.- Those fuggers are expensive. I was contemplating a QX9650, but an ES Q6600 is better

For those who don't know, ES = Engineering Sample. Higher binned silicon = potentially higher overclocks. Also has an unlocked multiplier, which is helpful for overclocking.

Why? Processor only has a 1333 FSB.

That's the QDR(quad data rate), it's running at a FSB 333Mhz. Your RAM is running at 666Mhz. You're already higher than your processor, might as well go balls out. Syncing your frequencies really only matters when your overclocking, plus DDR3 needs to be underclocked to go 1:1 with a stock processor

This sounds biased, and maybe you think i have not bought that many HDD's.. However you would be wrong !!

Every HDD that I've purchased has been WD. That's 5 (2x 640GB, 1x 80GB, 1x 74GB Raptor, 1x 150GB Raptor) so far, and I'm planning on getting four more 640GB drives.

It's weird, some people have tons of drives die on them from a company, and others haven't had a single problem.

I haven't had a single problem with my WD drive. Maybe it's just luck? I'm planning to get a 1 TB drive.
