Are you sure about that. You're about two hours north of Lubbock and Lubbock is about six or seven hours away from Dallas if I'm not mistaken.

Hey, I live in Highland Village, Tx. I'm about 30 minutes from the servers. I am dreading the cold months....

I live in Kemp, Texas. If you think you know where it is you're wrong. It's a little itty bitty small Texas town. We just got our new stoplight and automated car warsh. It's about an hour south-east of Dallas.
I love Texas weather except August, and I love the normal North Texas winters. I love ice and cold, but not really snow. I love the people and the pride (it can be a bit smothering). I love how if you're broken down somewhere you'll have three cowboy hats (with people under them) to help you out in no time. I also love the lack of taxes other states seem to think are important. I love seeing everyone pull over to the side of the road and take their hats off when a funeral precession goes by, even if they didn't know the guy, even if they're in a hurry. I love the manners (I'm told by out of staters that I confuse them with my "Maam" and "Sir"s. One even asked if I was in the military). I love the Friday Night Football and the Marching Bands. I love the big trucks (even though I drive a minivan) and the long country roads and the space. I love thunderstorms... real thunderstorms... supercell thunderstorms. I love that I have a sturdy and warm house.
Last I drove it, though, Amarillo is nowhere near Dallas. 4 hours in a minivan chock full of inpatient family. I remember it well.
I don't like the mosqitos, and I don't like the last month of summer.
And I don't like Longhorns. Then again, I guess not everyone can go to A&M.

I love bluebell's ice cream, I live on the street name "bluebell" also, lol, A gerbil's fury, I feel your pain as the hurricane pass by, causing my city to be at least effing 46˚!HAHAHAHA KEMP, TX?!?!?!? I had a crazy gf from there YEARS ago! Smallest town EVER!
Well, Bugen here form New Mexico but moving the hell out of here to Colorado next summer. All I have to say is that most Texans that I have met over here tend to think everyone over here is incompetent. While I don't like it here and believe there are a ton of "special" people here, not everyone here is worthless. I know you take your pride very seriously but too seriously in my opinion. Oh, and get your own mountains to ski on.

I have lived in Texas all my life. Started in Dallas,swung down to College Station, then took a shot North to Paducah (pop. 110...I think) and finally went east to where I am now.
I personally enjoy the history of Texas. A crazy story for a crazy state!

While I'm not in Texas now, I spent a majority of my life there and would love to get back. I lived in Houston, Dallas and Austin. Of the three, I probably liked Austin the most. It's just a strange and unusual city and has this unexplainable community feel.
Highland Village is very close to where I lived when I was in Dallas (we were in Flower Mound). I used to be in Highland Village all the time to visit friends.

Born and raised Texan. Born in Houston (even though the hospital I was born in got annexed by Spring a year after I was born), moved to Austin when I was 8 and been here ever since. Don't plan on going anywhere either.

I like that if you want to go 55mph down the highway and i want to drive the speed limit (70mph for the uninformed) you will get out of my way. and i of coarse wave at you for being so nice. and you will either wave back or flash your lights at me.
I love that when my wife is holding our baby, and dragging my son beside her, while walking into a store the person leaving the store will stop and hold the door and wait for her to enter. I like that that same person will do the same for me even if i'm by myself, if they happen to be leaving the same time i'm trying to enter.

We have a blinking light (no stop light) and no car wash. We do have a gas station, and a DQ though.

We used to not even have a blinking light. We just recently got that and the Sonic Drive In, though. Two gas stations and a DQ. The interesting bit of Kemp Texas history is it didn't used to be the small town. It was a train depot, the main highway (175) ran through the town... it was the metro area for the whole of Kaufman and Henderson counties.
Then the highway diverted around it (for a savings of -2 miles), and it collapsed.
Just recently we've been getting Kemp back up (it only took 50 years)... in fact, I moved back from Carrollton (North of Dallas) and quit my job (At a server company in Dallas, but not LayeredTech, where eGO servers be at) just to come back down here and start a business and do my part.
There is NOTHING like a small Texas town.
I'd have to agree with the poster on the previous page and add Blue Bell Ice Cream to the list.
I'd have to add to my dislike list Crandall City Cops. They're the Beauford T. Justice's of the area, and sneak around looking for any little infraction to pull you over and dump out your wallet.

ditto of this place. except the names have been changed. and the highway didn't move. its still here. but not as big as I-37 (which is what most people use) so the town died lol (well not died. but shrunk/slowed down atleast)
