Finally on the Plus Side (sorta)

I'm pretty sure purple huskies understands the point system with an engie.

:P

I Know how you feel man i have been working hard to get me kpd ratio high.. every time i change my name it gets better/

I have no doubt Purple.Huskies does indeed understand the point system with an Engie.. I'm just confused as to why Purple.Huskies is confused, and assuming that Purple.Huskies was confused, maybe due to bad writing at way to late at night o'clock, I decided to rewrite my post.

Now I'm confused.

Purple Huskies do not understand point system at all... :P

I was confused when you said kills by your sg do not count toward your KPD ratio. I can see your confused with accumulative stats such as total points/kills and last 28 days stats such as weapon kills and bounces. Certain stats are tracked only last 21 days or so. However, every kills/death count toward your life time kpd/points.

Trust me when I say KPD, headshots, and killing good people will only get you so far.

You NEED medic assists, invulns, and/or engie buildings to get a top 50 rank. Otherwise you need to be a camping demo with a 4.0 kpd. I think maybe CP maps also tend to net people more points for some reason. A lot of the people in the top 100 play a lot of CP maps.

Well yeah the point is to have fun, but some people are competitive with their gaming. To each their own!

I think point systems are stupid, because it all relies on who you happen to kill and who happens to kill you. yadigg?

I'll admit that I may be reading my stats wrong, but while playing Engie, I usually get 2 sentry gun kills per death (according to my recollection of the death announcements in the top right corner of the screen); I don't usually turtle my sentry guns unless (1) I'm pretty sure I'll survive, or (2) I'm so surrounded by stickies and/or ubers that it would be worthless to run, and maybe if I can keep my SG alive for a second longer it'll help the team.

Since I don't really focus on HLXStats points, but I still want as many as I can get, I don't mind my sentry dying, so it's not worth dying to save.

I'd expect a little higher KPD if my sentry gun actually counted toward KPD.

The only other explanation I can think of is that perhaps Sentry Gun Assists don't count toward my KPD.

Something associated with sentry guns killing n00bs doesn't count toward KPD because I should have a really good one... or so I think. At least > 1.0.

I totally agree with this guy, i think being too worried about stats could hurt the performance of the team during the matches

or, i play for fun! it doesnt matter how many peeps i kill or how many times i die, i play to have fun!

if it becomes a job to constantly manage your KDR...

your doing it wrong!

Don't worry about it. Certain classes have a predisposition to dying more than others. If you help your team win consistently by whatever means (whether it's distracting the enemy or picking their heads off from afar), you are skilled enough to have my respect - though I do have my reservations. HLStatsX will rarely be able to justify that.

Also HLstatsX is broken anyway; there are biases that allow certain classes to rise in rank far more easily than others. I dare you to prove me wrong.

By default I believe it is ranked by points, so even with a bad K/D ratio, if you have tons of kills and what not you can still have a high rank.
First part is true, second part is completely not true.

Oops, meant to say that you can have tons of kills and still NOT have a high rank
