The foundry? I got a good feeling about it.

How has ATI fared since they stopped doing their own video cards?

And mind you this - the "second company" is AMD - the same people who have ALWAYS been doing the manufacturing.

Except now - they're going to be taking custom orders, and AMD itself will focus purely on R&D and making good stuff.

Like I said - I'm just going leave intel over there, take a step back for a while and see what happens.

I expect to be impressed.

I assume The Foundry is going to be taking custom order from other companies? That could only mean good things for AMD/ATI. More money = more R&D = more competition for Nvidia = LOW PRICES.

What are the benefits (if any) of a faster dual core compared to a slower quad core?

ex: Dual 3.15GHz vs Quad 2.4GHz

well just to use your example I have a 2.4 quad right now. and its overclocked to 3.2 ghz, so there.

I went for the Q6600 and haven't regretted it, overclocked it to 3.2ghz on air. Love it.
