I started thinking of this when I saw the thread in the forums (either last week or week before, I forgot) about having Halloween themed maps up on and around the 31st of this month.
I'm planning on taking a couple of the maps we have up now (so far Badlands, Dustbowl, Gravelpit, Well and 2Fort) and modifying them to be more Halloween themed (night time, Halloween decorations like pumpkins, various lights, ghosts, etc.)
I need people who can help with mapping, modeling and skinning for the various decorations

Please only post here if you can help out, if you want to add some input, do so in this thread http://edgegamers.org/forums/showthread.php?p=508656#post508656
So if you are available to help with those or are good at mapping and want to help out, please post here.

Hey i can do some mapping. I'm new at it. I can do some skins for sure though.
BTW i love this idea.

I can do some texturing for skins, maybe some modelling and mapping ;)

Alright, great to see you guys enthusiastic about helping. From what I just found out, de-compiling the current maps is not going to work well for creating modified versions. Until I or someone else can think of a solution, replicas of the maps will need to be made most likely.
Something like that is way out of my skill range. Someone else will most likely need to take the helm on that section.
I can still make up designs of what I was thinking for the overall layout for things, and although I have never tried it, I'm pretty handy with Photo Shop and could probably help out with the textures.

What do you guys think?

I once de-compiled a CS map, Only lost the entities and textures.... I can maybe help with de-compiling, I'll see what I can do tomorrow ;)

I can do mapping, anything you need sir.

Awesome. Do you think you could make a replica of any of the maps I listed in the first post? If you (or anyone else) make(s) a replica of the original map and sent me the .vmf I could add in all of the Halloween items.

I dont think i can be much help. However i know that there are guides to get the original maps decompiled. Night skyboxes are hit and miss in my experience, There just arent too many, the only one i am aware of is starry night, which didnt seem to work all to well.

Replicate the original Tf2 maps? I may be good but that is professionally done, and I am not pro yet.

Although I could easily get you the maps and vmf them to you, but sorry to say that they may not decompile correctly.

I know how to decompile. I have decompiled the maps. The thing is though, I was told that decompiling the map is a really bad idea because of many little errors that would most likely occur that I wouldn't know about. If someone can disprove this and can assure me that decompiling the map to edit it then recompile won't cause an issue, then I would be able to edit them by myself. Otherwise we are in a bit of a jam.

De-compiling and fixing the errors will be easier than re-creating the whole map...

The thing is I dont know what or where the errors are. And from what I've heard its pretty difficult to find out.

I think, almost all entities are deleted and textures are lost.... Alot of testing is the solution...
