I'm not sure if its my place to make this thread, so feel free to close it if you should.

---

We've had a ton of great suggestions and many many more that never got voiced in the meeting tonight, and to avoid spamming Drunken's inbox like never before, perhaps we could post them here?

---

Mine:

I really like MenOPaws idea of a TF2 admin channel in vent. I think this will be most useful so admins can confer with each other about issues, like "Is so and so's name acceptable?" or "I need help on Dustbowl."

It was mentioned that 2fort has declined in popularity. I joined during the summer, so I can't speak to any long term trends. But perhaps since school has started for a lot of people, they are looking for a more relaxed style of play that 2fort might not offer. So, maybe we're not doing anything wrong, its just a changing environment that we need to adapt to.

It was also asked if we're to strict or hard as admins.
My personal opinion of this is that our rules are perfectly fine. But, the quality of execution of those rules may be lacking. I think we need to use our admin powers less. This doesn't mean let things slide, just deal with them differently. If someone is breaking the rules, or claiming "hax", I prefer to talk to them first like an ordinary player, using regular "y" chat. No "@". This way we come down to their level, and I think it shows we respect them more. Using the "y@" chat is in a way, like shouting at the player. Using "please" and "thank you" while shouting doesn't have quite the same effect. I'll often use this method if they just let something slip in voice. If it was just a isolated slip, there is no reason at all to embarrass that player with an all-chat blast. That said, if they aren't responding to reason or are way out of line, I'm not opposed to using the more powerful warns and kicks.

And a consensus from the meeting was that the council is indeed not evil. ;) But, seriously, we all appreciate the nigh infinite amount of work you guys put into the clan. These meetings will certainly do a ton to get rid of any false accusations of you guys being out of touch. Thanks!!

I'm not sure if my suggestion was voiced, but here it is anyway.

I suggest that the TF2 Group managers add the password to each event in the Steam Group Event Announcement system. It's quick and easy to shift-tab in mid-game to find the password and switch, rather than wait for the game to Alt-Tab, go to the forums, find the scrim password, and reload the game.

I totally forgot about the meeting, I'd love to hear everyone's suggestions.

Agreed, this is the way it was before they trashed the old group. They would have to make the eGO TF2 group private and eGO members only, but this would be a very nice feature.

Why?

Pubs can already see the password in the forums.

What pub wants to join the eGO group, anyway? Or play on a locked server? I'm sure they'd rather go to another server during the events.

I've seen many complaints about how we admin.
I have two responses to this.

People hating you is a sign that you're doing something right.
Would people prefer that we gave admin to highest bidder? They complain that we don't "Screen for properly trained/responsible admins" but the common $5 fee isn't that effective of a screen either.

Oh, and I couldn't make the meeting. I was at a football game.

I'll agree with you that a certain amount of hate is part of the job. But at the same time, we are not exempt from legitimate 'hate' resulting from overuse of our powers.

And I think our method for granting admin powers, although perhaps occasionally flawed, is certainly the best way I can come up with. I don't think the people who use solely y@ for their admining are out of line or breaking any rules or bad admins, just that they might be able to say the same thing a different way with better results.

Sorry I missed the meeting. I had to go to a seminar for part of my course. Hopefully I can chat with some people to hearwhat was said!

My best advice to get servers filled is lower respawn time to 5 seconds-ish. People don't like waiting half a minute everytime they die when over 50% of other servers are 5 second respawns. I got many complaints about how it takes forever for them to respawn. Just a suggestion ^^
