Yesterday Anorexia (an eGo) told me that a lot of people are claiming the name got rice? is racist...I want to be clear on this because I am NOT a racist and I am a strong activist for equality.
Ok, first things first. How I got my name: got rice? comes from got milk? and not that stupid song....I made this name 6 years ago before the song came out. If you search my name in both asia and america you will see hundreds of people (all asian) having my name in the game. Now, is my name controversial? No, I am asian and I love my heritage. I am proud that we eat rice because rice makes us different from other races. We live off of rice, no rice means you won't see the 2 billion strong in asia. Got milk came out of america because milk is something many americans drink daily. Asia is rice. Rice is my identity and I am proud of it. I cannot be racist against my own race...I'll prove it to you in terms of African Americans in the hood. Everyday you hear rap songs and people (I love rap btw) calling each other the N word. It is the same as hispanics calling themselves esse. Is it racist for them to call themselves that? No because it is there own race and they are proud. I may never fully understand that but, people will never understand why I have my name. It is racist if I was a different race but I am not. I am a proud korean living in a church based community. I know the connotation of rice back in the 1980s was a asian person who everyone hates. Now the times have changed, to me the connotation of rice is all of us asians and all of us people. It is who we are
stripping me of my name is stripping me of my identity. I will never let go because I am proud. Caucasians have there long ancestry, African Americans have lineage of amazing influential people, Hispanics have there long rich history of art and heritage, and Asians have history and RICE. My name is not a question my name is an identity. It differentiates me from everyone else. It would be the same thing as naming myself Koreankid or Aznpwnage. I will not change it ever. IF you are asian and think its racist then I assume you are not proud of our culture therefore ashamed of who we are. If you are of other race then I hope you view this differently....I don't want people to see me as some racist asian...I love everyone equally
I hope you all can understand now that I am PROUD of my name and over the course of years many asians have no problem with it. Of course it gets annoying to hear people sing that stupid song, I wear my name like my (e) tag
Thank you all for your concerns and making me post this and I hope that you will understand that I will never take off my name.
