Now, those who play with me know that I'm not only fair, but I try to keep things light and fun while doing my best to give support whenever possible.

Well, I was playing on the server a little while back and while the people in question were not breaking the rules, they were not thinking either. Primarily the joke-a-thon had to do with AIDS and the Medic-gun, but went nuts from there. I'm not going to name any names or servers or times and normally this kind of thing wouldn't bother me because I have thick skin, but I happen to have AIDS and where the jokes went, while not using profanity still became incredibly insensitive and hurtful. I know many people enjoy the cultural humor surrounding this particular illness, but for the people that live with it, its anything but humorous. I don't care if you talk or even joke about the subject, but if I'm in there, just take it a little easy on the harsh stuff, because it can be painful and hard to listen to.

The only thing i hate about people trying to be funny, is insulting people with conditions they couldn't have ever prevented. (e.g Down syndrome and some other examples)

No discrimination will be tolerated. Though its hard to claim discrimination in the case of AIDS cuz most people will not be willing to admit they have it. However if any subject or discussion gets to off color, or becomes spamming in nature then its time for it to stop. I'll tell you all right now, if you have a problem with this stuff in one of the servers, add me and call me in. I'll be there in 2 shakes (in most cases) and I will give you a hand.

It's true that when dealing with something like aids, it's a grey area. I have many times heard people joke about it with the medi-gun in hand. I don't tend to take much enjoyment from it (after a while, the jokes really do wear down) but at the same time, I rarely call people out for it, either. I have always had the policy that if anyone, pub or eGO member tell me through admin chat or regular chat that they found something offensive, that suddenly becomes a rule while that player is in the server.

I look at it like 'the kid with peanut allergies' situation. If you've ever had one of those in a school (or WERE one of those), you simply don't bring said food into the building. If I find that someone is offended by AIDS jokes, I simply disallow AIDS jokes.

That goes for basically anything.


I'm glad you made this post, and certainly, you can add me to steamfriends, as with rellik, and call me up if you need something. Hopefully it wasn't an eGO making the jokes, but if it was, it is more than within your rights to tell them how you feel about it on steam.

This is why i play almost exclusively in EGO servers, where is all about playing and have fun and not making stupid remarks and insulting people when things don't go well in any given team

I, for one, am appalled. I'm genuinely sorry that this happened to you. If only my latent psychic abilities were a bit more developed, I would've come to your assistance. Curse my Zen master for not teaching me the fifth gate release!

I hope you won't let this experience diminish your enjoyment of the eGO servers. They are, beyond the area of darkness that is caused by the blocking of the sun's glorious rays of a doubt, the BEST servers in history.

It's ok guys, I thank you all for the support and back up. The people involved weren't in the group, but it was on our servers and there were members playing, but one can hardly blame them for not reacting since they weren't being directed at an individual. My condition is widely known at FPSB and I've fairly well stopped being a regular there after some of the amazing tear down threads they initiated against me because of it, but like every place there are always good people willing to step in and make a difference and I for one thank you, after all, its not easy to deal with this illness while trying to support a wife and kids.

=/ You think it's bad on non-eGO Tf2 servers..i'm 13, which is prolly one of the worst ages to be at school. Wanna know why? Because, at school, easily OVER half of the kids at school on a daily basis joke about serious diseases and other things, like AIDS. This is why i dread school. Not because of the homework or WHATEVER, it's the maturity of my peers around me. I don't tolerate it. Like i'm sure every other post has said, if you have ANY, i repeat, ANY problem with even teasing on our servers, let an admin know. You can trust eGO, because we ARE a MATURE gaming community.
