monitor problems please help

hey could somone help me out with somthing pleeease. i use a regular computer monitor as my monitor but today i tryed using an hdmi adapter so i could use an hdmi cable and use my tv as a monitor well it all worked fine untill i restarted my computer now it get to like right before it gets to the windows log in page thing and the screen just goes black and i tryed using my old computer monitor instead of the tv and now that isnt working either could somone please please please help me ???

It might not be the video, it might that your windows install is corrupted.

i dont really know what that would mean. sorry i dont know much about this computer stuff. but this happened before a few months ago but it started working again i cant remember what i did to get it to work though

All i know is that my dads computer did the same, the windows boot screen showed up, then it was just black screen, we put windows XP back on it and it worked fine.
