We (My family) are trying to figure out what game to get, GHWT or RB2. I prefer a little heavy music, such as metallica and disturbed, etc. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on what game to get. I'm also looking at downloadable content, which one offers more or cheaper, and would it be better to get it for the 360 or the Wii?

Thanks

i got all the guitar heros for xbox360 an its way better i think than wii cause wii is for babys

Can you guys give me some reasons why?

I don't think you will get that here...but I will save the day and dish out some details.

I have played Rock Band 1 for the Xbox360 since it came out. The game is fun but the guitar is very easy, especially if you want it to be challenging. As a family game Rock Band 1 is a good choice. I do not know what changes have been made to Rock band 2.

I have played all Guitar Hero games with Guitar Hero 2 still being my personal favorite. Until now.

Guitar Hero World Tour is the best music simulation game right now. There are still tweaks that need to be made for the next insatllment but this one is amazing.

The drumset is a nice upgrade from the Rock Band one. The pads are coated in heavier rubber so the thud sound is muted more plus it has two cymbals aboce the drums which are able to be moved around to suit playing style. The bass pedal is amazingly sturdy. The sticks are heavier than RB's so I just use the RB ones. The drums can be complex though. You have 3 drums, 2 cymbals a bass pedal to use. If you get real wacky add the RB bass pedal for some double bass action. The drums are wireless.

The microphone is standard fare. Have not messed with the vocals a lot yet. It is wired.

Now the best improvement. The guitar. It is the best guitar for any music simulation out now. Sturdy and feels solid. The buttons are great and not stick. The strum bar is larger, has a quieter click and a smaller grip on the tip. A palm muting feature has been added that also activates star power. It is perfectly placed. The whammy bar is solid and feels like a real whammy! It is wireless.

The songs are great. It has Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label society and many others. You can view the songlist on wikipedia. Metallica's last album is available as downloadable content.

I love the music creator built into the game. It has real life scales, ability to change pitch and play all instruments. All songs users create are able to be uploaded to a server then downloaded by anyone for free. It is a deep, deep experience. You can make a song as in depth as you want or as basic as you want.

I have downloaded 4 songs. Mario theme, Zelda Theme, Classical extreme and a custom song called Beatdown.

They all are fun.

I prefer the game ont he 360 as I have a larger Hd for it and tons of friends already. The Wii version has all the same options as the 360, same downloadable content, same features but the Wii does not have a large storage solution yet. You can use SD cards up to 16gigs and the game will read them off the card. You just have to factor a large SD card into your purchase price if you do not own one.

That is my 5 day impression of GHWT. I hope it helps. If you have anymore questions let me know!

Im sold!!

The Kobe show is still on :D

Ohh, if only bigbird was still here :(

360 rock band... drums are nice... guitar is MUCH better now
The Songlists are 300x better then GH
Its just an all around better game.

Also, I don't know your budget, but the instruments work for both games. So you can buy one set of instruments and then just buy the other 60$ game.

Thanks for that info. Now if I download a song for the 360, is that a game specific song for the game, such as GH, would I be able to use that in other versions of GH?

Certain GH3 songs will work with GHWT I believe. I cannot confirm this. I know all the Metallica songs released for GH3 will work in GHWT.

There are so many good user created songs for GHWT now.

GH because:
-The drum set plays and feels like an actual electric drum set. It has 3 drums and 2 cymbals, compared to the Rock Band set that has 4 drums.
-User created songs = infinite re-play value.
-This is more of a subjective thing, but I like the feel of the GH guitar better than the standard RB one (they are usable for both games, but the band kits come with only the certain guitar).
