Can you guys give me some reasons why?
I don't think you will get that here...but I will save the day and dish out some details.
I have played Rock Band 1 for the Xbox360 since it came out. The game is fun but the guitar is very easy, especially if you want it to be challenging. As a family game Rock Band 1 is a good choice. I do not know what changes have been made to Rock band 2.
I have played all Guitar Hero games with Guitar Hero 2 still being my personal favorite. Until now.
Guitar Hero World Tour is the best music simulation game right now. There are still tweaks that need to be made for the next insatllment but this one is amazing.
The drumset is a nice upgrade from the Rock Band one. The pads are coated in heavier rubber so the thud sound is muted more plus it has two cymbals aboce the drums which are able to be moved around to suit playing style. The bass pedal is amazingly sturdy. The sticks are heavier than RB's so I just use the RB ones. The drums can be complex though. You have 3 drums, 2 cymbals a bass pedal to use. If you get real wacky add the RB bass pedal for some double bass action. The drums are wireless.
The microphone is standard fare. Have not messed with the vocals a lot yet. It is wired.
Now the best improvement. The guitar. It is the best guitar for any music simulation out now. Sturdy and feels solid. The buttons are great and not stick. The strum bar is larger, has a quieter click and a smaller grip on the tip. A palm muting feature has been added that also activates star power. It is perfectly placed. The whammy bar is solid and feels like a real whammy! It is wireless.
The songs are great. It has Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label society and many others. You can view the songlist on wikipedia. Metallica's last album is available as downloadable content.
I love the music creator built into the game. It has real life scales, ability to change pitch and play all instruments. All songs users create are able to be uploaded to a server then downloaded by anyone for free. It is a deep, deep experience. You can make a song as in depth as you want or as basic as you want.
I have downloaded 4 songs. Mario theme, Zelda Theme, Classical extreme and a custom song called Beatdown.
They all are fun.
I prefer the game ont he 360 as I have a larger Hd for it and tons of friends already. The Wii version has all the same options as the 360, same downloadable content, same features but the Wii does not have a large storage solution yet. You can use SD cards up to 16gigs and the game will read them off the card. You just have to factor a large SD card into your purchase price if you do not own one.
That is my 5 day impression of GHWT. I hope it helps. If you have anymore questions let me know!
