Microsoft: We?re Sorry, but We?ll Make it Up to You

I cleaned up my sisters computer, got rid of screensaver packs and cursor packs, ran all MS updates for vista and it ran beautifully.

They come back to it and start putting FREE crap on it and now it crashes.

With a few notable exceptions that's very true. I run Spybot S&D every night and find all of those malware critters attached to my PC during the day. There's one that will drive you crazy called "Smitfraud" It gets in your PC and gives you a message about every 30 seconds that you have a new virus. Thank God that there is a free tool on the web to remove it.

You're right. There are some good free tools such as SPybot but most of the stuff normal people want to download is not good i.e. screensavers, cursor packs, etc... Remember the GATOR tool that remembered all your stuffs for yopu when filling out registrations? Yea, junk like that.

I should say to the uninformed there is no free lunch :D

Vista has always run great for me. Obviously the mileage varies with everyone. I look forward to Windows 7 nonetheless.

i don't know i liked vista, you can expect an OS to have a few bugs when it begins but MS has been on point with upgrading regularly to fix the more prominent bugs. I'll admit it had a few annoying notes but nothing u couldn't fix by un-checking a box, i never had a problem with slowdown issues unless i was running several programs at once, and im not talk about just a game and media player...

so heres a question:

i have 4gb of ram and currently running 32-bit xp..

should i upgrade to 64 bit vista or 64 bit XP? either way i need 64 bit.. currently only getting 3.25gb of my 4gb..

not sure if i will have problems with vista or not..
