Possibly resigning from TF2?

Ive been having major connection problems for the past week (probly more) and I have no idea what the problem is. There is a thread on the tech forums about my dilema but it is getting quite frustrating. Ive been troubleshooting since the problem has started.. it must be like 2 weeks by now almost, and I still have no luck. Ive pretty much tried everything anyone will think of off the top of their head with no luck

I am thinking about just not playing and waiting for CoD5 and transfering over to that division, I will keep trying to fix the problem but probly wont have any luck but that is why I havent been on for a while!

that sucks. BTW, you dont need to transfer. When your in eGO, your in all divisions.

Ah, yea I was acutally wondering about that, also does admin transfer over?

If you're having connection issues contact your ISP and have them fix it. It's common for lines to go bad or for there to be interference or something on the companies end.

Just call and complain. They are required to offer you the service advertised.

Every other internet program on my computer works except for TF2, I doubt its anything they can do, Ive pretty much just given up

Is it only ego servers that give you trouble? Is it steam?

Its every server, I dont even know anymore I just dont feel like troubleshooting/fiddling around with stuff anymore

and other games work on steam? have you tried simply installing/ reinstalling the game? I mean if its only one game it isnt usaly an ISP problem, but a fire wall/ router problem in my experiance, or your comps video card has died... that happened to me once... sad sad day... I hope you find a solution it would be horrible if you couldnt play a game for no real reason or explination.

Eh..

Every other game works on Steam
Tried re-installing
Not a firewall problem
Updated router firmware/switched a few other things
Video card is in perfect condition

I have no idea whats goin on really :|

Whenever I change my options in TF2 my rate resets back to 3500. (I usually keep mine at 50000)

My friend's anti-virus doesn't let him play [some?] Source games. Have you tried disabling it? That is, if you have one...

Tried changing all the rates and disabling (also completly uninstalling) my anti-virus already, didnt work


I have no idea what was changed or anything either, Im pretty sure I didnt change anything casue then I probly would of figured it out the day it happened :/

That fix is pretty far out there. I wouldn't recommend it.

How is it far out there? he is having connection issues , which is something a corrupt winsock could be the cause of.

Like I said I had this problem in the past and this was my solution. If it doesn't work it doesn't work, but there is a backup and you're not going to harm anything.

Nah but Ive been playing since the game came out so I dont know why it would poop out all of a sudden.


As for the rates, I checked a few sites and changed them to what people said worked, no luck

If you do what I am telling you, you can pinpoint the problem.

Im having a similar problem, but its only with Ventrilo. Sometimes, if I talk in ventrilo I lag out.

Here is what you need to do...

1) Connect your modem directly to your PC. ( If this works, than there is a problem with your router.)

2) Call your ISP. I did this, and they had a technician come out, and test my speed. He also check the lines around my house and said it was a local problem, and they are fixing it.

Might help, might not help. Dont give up. And

If this doesnt work, I suggest switching ISP's. Dont give up a game you love.

PS: Can you see any servers in your server list, but cant connect?
