Programs Which Interfere with Steam

This is obviously not a deffinitive "You are going to have problems using this program with steam".

This is a "We know there are conflicts and if you are having any problems and one of these are installed and running, try this solution first"

While doing some research I found this link on steampowered and figured it would be useful to have here as initial steps for people to troubleshoot their computers.

If you have any of the software below please consult the link associated with it as Steam does provide solutions to fixing compatibility issues for most of these products.

0.o wow that is a big list...never had Nod32 or Kaspersky mess with steam though.
 
Kaspersky messed with my steam all the time ESPEC Version 2009, I have to disable kaspersky, terminate steam, delete a steam file, update steam, login then do w/e I want. Needless to say I built a bat file to do it for me.
 
haha this list cracks me up. I use a few of those programs and have never had a problem with steam and them. Its almost like steam doesn't want you to have a firewall, anti-virus or many things which make your computer useful.
 
No, it's just a list of what 'could' interfere. Firewall/Antivirus apps have program restrictions settings on them now that could prevent steam from conecting to the internet, etc. That's all it's referring to really.
 
Never actually had a problem with NOD32, still disable it during play anyways, it doesn't hurt. :P
 
I use and have never had any Steam issue with:

AVG Anti-virus
uTorrent (woot Revision 3 Shows)
Daemon Tools
Ventrilo
XFire

Hmmmm.... Seems to work just fine for me. :)
