Backburner or flamethrower?

It all depends on your playing style, If you ambush players alot use the backburner! But if you play support more use your flamethrower. A group of pyro's can provide a great role in support!

I find myself using the regular flamethrower more often. The compression blast is worth it.

I always switch between the two. Depends what I feel like doing, reflecting explosives of owning the other team from behind.

Compression Blast just makes the life of a pyro too much easier.
And I'm okay with that.

I would say the regular flamethrower, simply ignite them and start cutting them down with your axe is usually more effective then the backburner and you can still delay the ubers.

Really depends on my mood mostly. But I've found that I work very well with an airblaster type pyro as demo. Funny seeing a Heavy never hit the ground during an uber.

I like the extra health from the Backburner, but still find the Flamethrower to be the all-around best weapon(for Pyro). I know that if I'm playing a different class and get burned, I don't turn to run, I usually back up and shoot to get the guy to back off. So if I only get a bonus from hitting someone's back, this is negated if they don't turn or if I don't ambush them. The compression blast is worth more than this. (feels like I started to ramble )

I though they got rid off the extra health in the backburner a few updates ago?

I used to use the backburner, but the enemy barely turned their back to me, neither did I get behind anyone. Plus, when you meet other pyros that use the flamethrower, and you use the backburner, you are probably 80 % doomed(if both of you have full HP). So I have started using the original flamer.

I hate to say it but ever since they nerfed the pyro and took away the health increase because of back burner and since normally you dont always catch people with their backs to ya....well then it rules down to the fact that you can use compression blast to push stickies away and even reflect rockets.

if you are mobile type go back burner (lone wolf it)
if you group with others go default (group needs your air blast)

I use the orginal for Pyro vs Pyro situations. Plus there is no extra health.

Im gonna have to go with the back burner XD. its helped me take down so many heavys its not even funny.
