Macs aren't that bad. Their OSX is a really nice OS, it's just the hardware that isn't that great, not for gaming at least.

Personally, I can't stand the mac os. I've been forced to design pages and code on them for classes... I ended up coding all my homework and projects on my pc and then just putting them on a USB drive.

How so? I bought a Dell Dimension 8300 a few years back and have upgraded several parts since then without the smallest issue. It was easy. I bought a new hard drive, a new psu, a new video card, a new sound card, some more RAM, and then I put in said parts, and...yeah. Everything was fine, and I'm playing any game I want having a wonderful experience.

The only downside was all the software that comes along with it. But anyone who knows anything about uninstalling programs can clear those out in a heartbeat. :\ The case looks lame, but other than that it's just like any other PC in my experience.

...so that this doesn't count as spam and to stay with the topic of the thread...

Macs are teh Ub3r lame. ...in my humble opinion.

I'll respond and actually not lock it, only because its an interesting discussion. The discussion is no longer relating to YOUR computer purchase anymore obviously, but is still a perfectly resonable discussion.

I think the issue many folks have with Dells, myself included, is that the parts between their own machines aren't standardized. Which makes repair and replacement difficult. Upgrading is still usually feasible.

However, regarding the Mac OS, its a fantastiaclly stable and usable operating system, but if you spend most your time on Windows, requires some getting used to. But now is a better time than ever to go Mac...they've updated the iMac line just this week to a very sleek look.

They've also quietly update their Mac Minis to C2D's and they've also updated their iLife and iWork packages. Personally, they look intriguing and VERY easy and straightforward to use. I would love to try them out... that is, if I had a Mac.... :|

A mac is good for one thing and one thing only and that is art and media... other words i think its useless for me to own...

It is true that macs USED to be the ones to go for if you were using your computer for digital artwork and things of that nature, but PCs have caught up and quite possibly surpassed the macs with things of that nature quite awhile ago.

A lot of the people that I work with, in network system administration, use Macs. They are great for this type of work because they have the user-friendliness of a Windows PC and they also have a plain vanilla UNIX terminal for all of your administrative needs.

The only thing that is keeping me from buying one of the new iMacs is the fact that for the same price I could build a monster PC with a new 3.0GHz Core 2 Duo and a higher-end GeForce 8800 card in it.
