Hey all! Now I know there are already some "how to" videos on youtube about playing engineer, but I decided to make a video showing some of my own tips and sentry locations while playing specifically on 2fort. I'm still pretty new to video editing but let me know what you think!

Dude, awesome guide. I don't really use engie myself, I'm not a fast enough worker.

Nice video.

Im guessing that you used Vegas + FRAPS.

if you used FRAPS, try converting the demo files with VirtualDub.

Thanks for the feedback! I might make another one if I get around to it.

Hmm I'm kind of confused. FRAPS saves the files as AVI's and I just imported them directly into Windows Movie Maker...

nice but its wierd how there was no resistance in enemy base when u made u last sentry

altho i found some sentry spot special (because i always want the perfect spot were only an uber can get me)

but really nice for me this vid has perfect editing

nice guide..i especially like teh last spot u put a sentry. What kind of music did u use? Symphonic metal?

Yea the last songs were "I wish I had an angel" and "Planet hell" both by Nightwish. I thought it went well with what I was doing ;). The first song was "Turnaround" by Nirvana

My personal favorite, following some team mate ubers into their base, running down to their intel room, dropping down a TP exit. and building a base in the enemy intel.

Engineers are, by far, the most important class in TF2.
There is no such thing as most important class in TF2, simply because a team can do just as fine without a certain class. Yes, engis are good defenders, but demomen, heavies or other classes could do fine.
If there would be a most important class, it'd be the medic... No offense needs a medic (except for the usual dustbowl pub sentryfest) but it's always nicer to have a medic than a scout who is just dieing nonstop. (I am not saying that scouts are useless, just saying that a DIEING scout is not as helpful as a healing medic).

Other than that, this is a pretty basic video. Though I can't agree with you about your "offensive" engi style. What difference does it make when you just use a different spot but still babysit your sentry like you'd usually do anyway? Exactly, none. It's just defending a different area.

Yay finally some criticism :D!

Now I don't want to start a big discussion, but I'm not sure I agree with you. Demos and heavies are good at defending but who has the patience for that? Let alone the fact that a well placed level 3 sentry is the only thing that can stop un-ubered players in their tracks.

Engineers decide where the battle lines are drawn. If you have ever played Turbine, which I'm sure everyone has, you will know what I mean.

Different spots give you different amounts of kills. Camping in the intel might get you a spy kill or two, but as I showed in my video, a sentry placed just inside their entrance can give you a bunch of kills within 5 minutes!

Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you muchly!

Hard to say since I play both engie and medic, I always wonder which would help out more in the moment... such as capture point maps, better as engie to defend points or play medic? medic is always needed but if a team doesn't have engie, it compels you to be engie doesn't it? :)
