Yes this will work. Good choice on the chipset. I have a nforce chipset now and looking to move to the intel X48.

On a side note you may want to wait a week or two. Intel is about the release the Core i7. I would expect the price of that processor to drop significantly when that happens. Also check the price on the Core i7 920. This chip runs at 2.66ghz but is running circles around the current chips since Intel brought back Hyper Threading. So 4 cores with hyper threading.

Do keep in mind that you have to run 3 DDR3 dims to make the new chips work. No more paired memory. Now its 3 at a time.
 
well i have to wait anyways cause i need a job but with the core i7 will its fit onto a 775???
 
The new i7s require a motherboard with 1366 pins, so there's no way you'll be able to fit it on a 775 board.

You could try...:p

Yeah, you could just put about 1,000 bucks in a pile and light it on fire and get the same result..


Do you need core i7 ??? NO...

Is it worth it to wait for it to come out for price drops ? YES.
 
Thats actually the board I'll be getting with my new rig. (My decision might change when Corei7 comes) I've looked at lots of reviews on this board and its an AWESOME board. It also fits all LGA775 CPUs. (Quads, and Duals alike)
