"Important" Notice:

Walmart destroys the economy. I'm not going there.

QFT, I have never been inside one for that exact reason, and I doubt that any "quality" food that comes out of that hellhole is anything that I would want to eat. I prefer my chocolate covered cherries from a quality store like trader joe's or whole foods. Then again I guess that is why they only cost a dollar.

I'm not a fan of those, but we still end up buying a box for my Dad every Christmas. It's kind of a running joke in the family, albeit a sickly sweet and retarded one. My Dad has almost zero active taste buds, so I think that's part of the reason why he eats those things.

There's 3 surviving kids in my family. My sister the oldest, my brother the psycho, and then me. One year, we were all arguing over who was getting what gifts for Dad. Sis wanted to buy him the same gift I was looking at, and my brother wanted us to all chip in to buy something huge... and I just wanted the least amount of interaction with either of them. I brought up how he always bought a box of these nasty chocolate covered cherries, and hid them in his room so none of us kids would touch them. I had already picked up a box to give Dad with the outfit I was going to buy. Well, sis does the phone calls to all the extended family members to get sizes and wishlists, and being a dolt, she mentioned Dad's cherry cordial hang up to EVERY ONE she called. Of course, she thought nothing of it. There were other things on his list, anyway. Right? uhhh...

So, Christmas arrives. Huge family gathering with parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a few close family friends. We do the gift exchanges, and there are tons of these prettily wrapped boxes... all of the same size... in Dad's pile to unwrap. Thanks to my genius sister, Dad received over 15 boxes of Cherry Cordials that night. I don't think he even unwrapped most of them. He actually looked like he was going to throw up, carrying them out to the car. Everyone thought it was hilarious, and Dad did see the humor in it... after re-gifting most of the boxes to neighbors and service workers (mailman, paperboy, snow shoveler) between Christmas and New Year's.

Now it's just a running gag in our family to buy Dad a cheap box of nasty, and include it with whatever gift we're giving him. Last time I checked, he was at least down to only getting 10 or so boxes of them a year from various family members... *shudders*

If you like cherry cordials(or whatever they're called) and ever find yourself in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, pick up a box of the Saskatoon berry equivalent. The berries are pretty bitter but it is really good when combined with sweet sweet chocolate. :)

Queen Anne cherries are once again available at your local Wal Mart for 97 cents per box. That folks, is a bargain. 97 cents for 10 chocolate covered balls of gooey goodness. HOORAY!

yummy... I love those things!!! thanks for the info!
