I went outside today and walked to the gas station next door. There were clouds in the sky and it looked like it was about to rain. I bought a bottle of water and my regular afternoon jellybeans. There were 3 people in line in front of me. While I was inside, the beer delivery guy came and had blocked the door that I came in so, I went out the door on the other side of the gas station. And guess what? The rain clouds were gone. Suddenly, I realized, the gas station is actually a magical portal to an alternate world.
I had never been told about the magical portal that was the Shell station next door, so I assumed I wasn't supposed to know. This new world was magnificent. The sky was a bit more blue. I'm pretty sure the gravity there is a little less, because I was able to walk faster and more bouncy than I had before. As I walked past the fence that separates my parking lot and the gas station, I noticed the fence was different, it was straighter than before. The grass grew faster, I stopped and stared and I swear that I could see the grass grow. The bird poo that was on my hood of my car was in the wrong spot. I am pretty sure it used to be 3 inches from the windshield and it looked to be a good 4 inces from the windshield now.
I was going to go inside, back to my office, but then I realized if I saw myself in this other dimension I might mess up the world as we know it. So I figured if I truly wanted to explore this other dimension, I needed to come better prepared next time. So, no matter how tempting, I really needed to just turn around and go back to my old dimension for now. So I went back in the gas station, through the far door, climbed over the beer palates and out the other door, back to my old dimension. The gas station lady acted like I was crazy and didn't understand what I was doing, but she knew. She knew!
