Engi Unlock

Ive got it. A Sentry gun that takes 800 metal to build. Epic isnt it?... Did i forget to mention it spins around and sprays fire whenever it gets sapped?? yeah... Epic. I guess i should make some pros and cons. PROS: SHOOTS FIRE. CONS: 800 METAL

id hit that!

engis ASSEMBLE!

This is what I get for moving... I miss interesting topics!

In discussions with my friends, I proposed the upgrade to the PDA being a new buidable:

THE BARRICADE:

Specifically "D", the one with the humorously blinking light. I'm too lazy to find a better picture.

The idea is simple: It's the same dimensions as a dispenser, so it has the same "stopping power" as the dispenser. Unlike the dispenser, though, a sentry gun can lock on and shoot through it, and enemies can shoot through it the other way (exceptin' the random bullets that would hit the barricade). It has 150hp. Useful for covering an Engineer's side, or making it difficult to get within sappin' range of a piece of equipment. Also useful for delaying pyros (they have to jump, or walk around, or burn, the barricade) and other unsavory figures from getting to the sentry.

We struggled with the concept the sapping a barricade (what do you sap, the blinking light?) before Chris =[Ga]= came up with the solution: Barricades are flammable. Like light-it-on-fire-and-it-continues-burning. It's wood. It burns. And it can be repaired while burning. So pyros can light it on fire with their flamethrowers and/or flare gun... and spies, instead of sapping it, toss their cigarette butt onto it.

SPY BURNIN' MAH BARRICADE!

Also the engi that builted it would be the only person on that team effected by it(IE everyone else would just walk right thou it). If you don't know what I mean, try jumping on a dispenser while not an engi

Yay I was mentioned! lol. How long did we discuss that Auto, over a hour? If I remember correctly we even had it where it could be upgraded but took alot of metal, and it then had a metal sheet on it that kept the flames away but could still be shot up. But I think we decided it was too much. :) ether way it would be awesome. And give the man a AA-12 Auto-Shotty! He needs some help. Holds 12 rounds but take longer to reload and doesn't have that much ammo. Also he can only load a 12 round clip not just one bullet. For a better idea of what I'm talking about, here.

I love this gun!

Yeah, Chris... I think we had just postulated a Wrench upgrade that allowed you to armor plate fully upgraded equipment, giving them +100 HP armor for 200 metal. So the barricade could have a total of 250HP. I think we did discuss an armor plate that characters could crouch behind; I don't know how unbalancing this would be.

The idea was that a Armored Barricade would be a solid piece of armor, the size of a dispenser, with 250HP. Characters could stand behind it for protection, as long as they crouched; they could stand up and shoot out. Awesome for that Heavy+Dispenser grinding out $200 custom tooled cartridges like a sentry gun.

Playtesting would decide if the armor plate was too much.

An extra consideration: An armor plated Barricade would no longer be transparent to sentry guns.

How about the ablity to build mini-senterys(two max). Each would be half the cost to build/upgrade and would only have half the hps/firepower.. Its just an thought..

How about a spike trap like cops use to blow out tires?

Make it like 4 in game feet wide and it slows down movement by 10% for 3 seconds, causes 15dmg and would uncloak a spy. It will only have 20 health so anything would pretty much destroy it and it would cost 150 metal to build.

Yeah if anything you should give those to the scout because the scout had caltrops in the original TF.

a remote control camera the engy can operate and see. it could make all kinds of obnoxious noises, just like the scout even!

Couple ideas:

1. spider sentrys you can place them on the side of a wall or on the ceiling.
2. transformer sentrys, option to merge with another engis sentry
3. mobile sentrys you can specify a path that they can patrol (10 feet or so)

all have reduced damage and hp as a result

How about instead of the teleporters, a camera and a screen, so everyone could keep an eye on the intel or his sentry or what the engie wanted?
