acceptable language on server

i was on 2fort earlier (well about 5 minutes ago but wat ever) and some one told me off for saying damn he was an e and i jst wondered wat is acceptable on server ?

I don't recall "damn" being in the list of baddies, hmm...
I wouldn't say it's an officially bad word on our servers, unless they said it in an offending way of course.
But the (e) was giving his efforts, so can't really blame him

these all warrant a warning on voice and chat.

lesser swear/cuss words let slide, be more leanient on vocie as chat requires you to actually type out a message and thus think about what you type.

Anything negative directed at someone warrants a warning.

So to answer the question no dam is completely fine. (editUnless its directed at someone.

Basicly as said below (this is an edit) if it passes TV standards its propaly ok with the exception of B*tch.

The general rule, though there are exceptions, is if you see it on prime time TV it is fine. I think damn is fine, just don't wear it out.

Obviously it's the nastiest language we want to avoid. While specifics are helpful, it's also good to remember the general rule of thumb:

Does applying an admin action facilitate the game, or distract from it? Naturally, admining always creates some distraction in the game, so although we want clean servers, a light touch is generally best. That is not to say you should ever tolerate abuse or flagrant violation of the rules, but when in doubt, chat with another admin and get her or his take prior to acting.

No, since it can refer to Urine, or be used to tell people to go away/leave them alone threatingly, so an Admin can ban/kick you for Player/Admin Disrespect.

Also he meant "this is really annoying/ticking me off." so I'd just leave it.

Because e's want to get their admin fast, and they think they'll get their admin faster when other admins see that these e's can do the admining.
I appreciate that you want to help guys, but it's not your job to admin, especially not when an admin is on the server and all you say is "language" or something like that. Just try to play and have fun.
If there are no admins on the server and you need some help, contact one. Vent, steam and the shoutbox are just a few tools.

When i was an =(e)=, I didn't really tell anyone off, since i knew i could get flamed and not have any power over the situation.

So if you're an =(e)= don't try to be Mr. Admin. Just enjoy the game and ignore trouble makers.

(Unless it's serious, in that case just call for an Admin through Steam Friends.)
