Telephone sounds? :O

So, whenever someone on the other end of the VOIPline receives a call or text message, you can hear these strange blips, or at least I can. Same thing if I'm all alone with my headset on and I receive a text.
Does anyone know what is the cause of this?

Yup, TheShape is right on this one...often your cell phone or other portable electronics will interfere with your speakers or headsets, causing popping sounds, beeps, whistles, and other electronic-funk noises. Sometimes moving the electronics farther away from the computer will help with this, or buying a more expensive set of speakers or a headset...or getting yourself a better sound card. Nothing can guarantee a fix, however...

You electronic device is getting interference from the cell phone. I have yet to find a way to prevent this. Simply move your phone away from your monitor/tv/speakers, etc.

We used to listen for the sound to see when our phone was going to ring. You can freak people out by "predicting" incoming calls and messages.

I suppose if the devices has enough shielding that they will not be affected by the interference.
