Question about STEAM purchases.

This is in regards to my recent purchase of Left 4 Dead (FINALLY), but holds especially true for ANY steam purchase.

Anyway... If I purchased Left 4 Dead for 45$ shouldn't I be entitled to some sort of physical evidence that I actually own it?

What I'm saying is it's a direct download... Ok... Well what if someone hacks my steam account, do I lose any evidence of me owning this game?

This may be an old unanswered question but I was just curious about it, I mean I like the convenience of buying things through steam but I still want some kind of security.

I would think they would have it on record because you purchased it over the net

if someone hacks ur steam account the only way to get that game back is to get the account itself back. even if u physically buy the game and register it to ur steam account u would still have to get the account back if it got stolen to play the game

If you mean if you ahve any proof of buying the game then yes, there is an option for you to print out a receipt at the end of your purchase, using that info u can get ur account back if u send in a report to steam.

As jdee said, you do get a receipt after your purchase. I also get an email, but I don't know if that's just me.
