Server rules question

Hey guys,

First off, let me tell you I've never been in a clan or used mic in game before. I've played DoD about 8 years ago briefly, then stopped playing. I started 2 days ago and joined Ego.

Whilst I am having great fun in our servers, I am not quite sure how to look at the rules of the server...

I heard someone get a warning for saying the word "carp" with "r" and "a" reversed... then I asked if people may say "po" and "op" together on mic... and was told by the admin that we are not allowed to say it since "po" + "op" is a cuss word.

So... I know now that PG words are not allowed, and only rated G words are allowed in our servers. Are there any other rules to the servers? I don't want to be offensive to anyone by accident or break the rules.

Dorkfish, the general rule i follow is that if you see it at 8 PM on prime TV then it is alright to say it. The word crap is fine, as is ass, bastard, and few more as long as they are not directed at another person, or meant as an insult. SOme say WTF which is fine, but if they over use it i will ask them to take it easy on the acronym.

The word poop, if you say i am pooped that is fine. But to say it just to be gross that is not cool. There is an expected level of decency.

One last thing, if there are admins on let them know of problems and let them deal with that, use U@ followed by the message. Your job is to enjoy the game and have fun.

Unless you can provide the exact text of the situation to see the context i cannot give any specific explanation. Also look at this link.

i find admins have certain tolerances for minor cussing but it mostly depends on the situation,the context of which you say it, and the admins personal view on the subject some let it go which others will call you on it just dont argue with them and accept it

This isn't directed at anyone particular, but it seems to me that if one is using a "push to talk" button then there really shouldn't be any reason to hear "colorful metaphors" in server. One could curse to his/her heart's content and nobody would ever have to hear it. That being said I think chastising people for saying "crap" and/or "poop" is a little extreme. I heard worse in the fourth grade.

Thanks guys...

Basically, several people were talking on mic giving locations of enemies. Then one of them got killed by an enemy and said "Crap, I died". Then the admin warned him saying that he may not say it in this server.

So I asked if people aren't allowed to say "Poop" either (This said as a joke), then I was told "No, it is a cuss word and you are not allowed to say it". Several seconds later, said "Well, you can say it. But not on your mic".

I was just confused because DoD is a game where people get sniped on the head and mowed down by machine guns into bloody mess, yet... saying the word "Poop" was not ok in the server.

Well... now I know that I am allowed to say it (not that I have a reason to, i was just curious). But it does suck that an Admin would tell people not to say such things even though it is not against the server rules.

OK,
Since I was the admin in question here is what was going on.

The other guy on the server and I can’t even remember who, had been saying s**t a lot. I told him to stop. So he started saying crap as a substitute and had been doing it after every other time he died. Then he had stopped for a bit, : )
Dorkfish joined the team and the guy said Crap again so I said something to him just because I had heard it so much.
When Dork made the comment about saying poop, my reply was something to the effect of you are a member you should not trying to find a way around the rules.

What I did not say in the server was, whether the admin is right or wrong. Contradicting an admin in all say when they are talking to someone about the server rules is unacceptable.
Doing it here or in vent is good, but in the server makes us all look bad

Ah.. Thanks Alaskagirl. I apologize about this. I did not mean to contradict you in the server to antagonize you. I had joined a day before hearing it, so I was naturally curious. But I fully understand the frustration one would have if someone kept saying Crap every time they died, it would be pretty annoying.
