Ok, guys so I I'm building a custom gaming desktop and I was wondering about stuff. I have a list of parts I need, can you guys tell me if I'm missing anything?

Power Supply
Processor
Motherboard
Memory
Case
Hard Drive
Video Card
Floppy Drive (Don't really need since I have one.)
DVD/DC Drive (Have spare but I'll need a new one for blu-ray.)
Sound Card
Speakers
Keyboard
Mouse
Operating System (Have Windows XP Proffesional And Home Disk, Should I get VISTA?)
 
Looks like everything is there. What parts are you interested in getting? I would get Vista depending on the parts you get.
 
If you're going to make a computer to last you for the next two years, yes you should get vista 64. Or you can wait and get Windows 7 when it comes out. (ETA 2009 unknown quarter)

So if you're in a hurry, get Vista 64 Home Premium.... if you're not... wait for Windows 7. Either way you'll have to upgrade to one or the other sooner or later.

You only need a floppy drive if you're going to be using a RAID setup.

You can really only use a Bluray drive effectively if you have a monitor that supports HDCP and a monitor that can effectively scale to 1920x1080 (1080P)

But other than that you're good to go.

Edit: Walmart Security. Most if not all newer parts nowadays are supported by vista. The problem is older hardware. :O Regardless, SP1 fixed alot of compatibility issues.

No you NEVER need a soundcard unless you are going to be using 7.1 Surround sound. (7 speakers, 1 subwoofer) or 5.1 (5 speakers, 1 subwoofer)

You will not get any higher soundquality (not unless you're super talented and have the ears of a mouse anyways)

A soundcard will generally help the overall performance of a PC though, as it does take a load off the mobo.
 
Asus P5K Pro comes with Realtek 5.1/7.1 audio, unless I am very mistaken.
