Decent Laptop

Hey guys xmas is coming up and I found out my sister wants a laptop. Since I can build computers from scratch but not laptops I wanted to know a good company to go with. I will be use for personal use much like a desktop PC. nothing on the graphics side. More towards media, storage, and internet.

Any suggestions?

I know price means everything so just put what you want. I will work from there.

Yea I have a CyberPower Laptop, pretty good, plays all my games with ease and very decently priced (mine was $1100)

Also cyberpower is great and all but like i said this is a personal laptop. Not a gaming or too powerfull laptop.

I am thinking about the 600-800 price range.

I've bought 2 Dell, 1 ChemBook, 1 Acer, 1 Gateway, and 1 Lenovo.

Dell sent a DHL Overnight box 3 times for my laptop.
Chembook had me pay to send it in.
The Acer hasn't gone in at all, nor has the Gateway.
Lenovo also sent a DHL Overnight box.

Overall, if I were buying, I'd lean Lenovo. Also check mrrebates.com for discounts.

Dell laptops are the best for the price. You just need to reformat them when you get them. They come loaded with a bunch of useless crap (like all dells) but they are price very well for the performance.

Dell Studios are great, neighbor of mine just bought a brand new one.

Great laptops, great company will do anything you want besides graphics intensive gaming. (Depending on the setup, it may even do that :O)

Edit: She has the one that starts at 599...

She just upgraded the processor to 2.xxGHz and a hi-res screen it can out to around 1,000. Without the screen it's like 899. The chasis is clean, and it runs extremely well for browsing the net and all that.

I must say, I love my Dell laptop. Their warranty is bar none. I bought mine used from someone and they still honored the warranty when I broke the keyboard and the display was makin' some funny noises.

I have a Lenovo R61 Think Pad, Ive been pretty satisfied with it so far. They go for less than 800

So far my Dell has been top notch.
Only problem has been the battery that went bad at the 8 month mark. Dell was quick to send out a replacement FREE in 2 days.

My dad had a Dell that was great, that was until his girlfriend poured 32 oz. of water in it. LOL
