Hey guys! i got a problem, whenever i play a Source Engine game, it sometimes crashes the computer! the game that crashes most is CS:S. i play abosloutley fine and then BAM! my whole comp crashes! is there a way to fix this?
There should be. So, you're able to start and run the game and without warning, the game crashes on you. Do you crash back to the desktop? Or do you need to reboot?
Open the Windows Event Viewer and correlate the time the Source game crashed to what's in the log. What do you see?
Can you predict or reproduce the error? Does it always happen after a certain amount of time playing? Does it always happen when you do a certain action? (join the CT's with a MP5. Rocket jump in TF2...)
Mine always crashes to desktop because it says the video card has stopped responding and then that it recovers.. any ideas? I have had my video card replaced as well as my motherboard and harddrive and it still isnt working... and I had memory replaced as well.
get a tempeture probe, or software than can monitor your systems heat, heat can cause lots of performance problems.
If it is doing it after a certain amount of time, like after an hour. Or when their is more than usual texture detail involved. If it is you may need to dust out your case with compressed air(carefully) or pull it ghetto and open your case and put floor fan facing it
