Criticals or non-criticals?

Removing crits pretty much kills the viability of melee weaponry.

well no I mean, it's not about removing hits that do more damage, it's about making them controllable
like you know backstab is instakill and control it by aiming at enemy back

maybe you charge up your shot but are vulnerable, something like that, I don't know...something that's not random and all you do is keep your fingers crossed

I dissagree with that though, as a medic/demo/sniper I get a crits once in a while but usually I win melee by just waiting for the right moment to strike, I won't get hurt and he will take 3 hits and he is death.

But the backstab is wrong I think, I never get backstabbed...always from the front...very annoying...

Random crits still feel like it gives undeserved kills, either if its you shooting or you being hit by it. I mean, you killed him. Yay. But you didn't really do anything. Thankfully that crit happened, otherwise you might've had to actually try?!

And melee is pretty good in its own right, 2-3 hits to take down the light classes, but you shouldn't be meleeing anything bigger and scarier. If crits where gone, atleast you wouldn't worry about being one hitted back.

I love crits, every now and then when there are about four people on the bridge in 2fort and I'm like "...I'm gonna die"...BUT THEN *Random Crit!* *KABLOEY!*....and all four of them blow up in a beautiful explosion of blood and gore. I <3 Crits.

You did do something. You actually aimed the crit rocket at someone. I've actually missed with crits more than I use them. In fact it's no less random than some of the other types I've kills I get where you randomly run smack dab into someone and pyro them to death.

well technically, a good player would rarely miss anyway, so to them, a hit that lands has a random chance of being insta-kill, without any input from their side

Here's another thought:

Everyone knows about kill streak crit chances right? I posit that a LARGE proportion of crits are already coming from players on a kill streak anyway. Supposedly, those would be the more skilled players. I mean really the whole argument against crits seems poorly conceived when viewed in that light.

How often are you REALLY killed by a truly random crit from a "n00b?" Compare that to how often you are killed by a crit from a skilled player.

hmm guess that's why crits fit in tf2 somehow
kind of overlooked that fact..

I cry a little whenever I crit someone, or when someone crits me. It's retarded that, say, a medic, can pull out his Ubersaw, crit a pyro that's burning him for the kill and then uber to survive.

The only crits that I don't mind are Backburner, Headshots, Kritzkrieg(which is a horrible option, but that's another thread), and KGBs.

i would 100% disagree with you. Kritzkrieg...while not applicable in all scenarios does have its use. I think my favorite use for it is on Warpath, used on a soldier...a good soldier with a good medic with the Kritz is unstoppable (not in the literal sense, yes i do know that you are not invincible with the Kritz). OR if you have 2 medics, one with regular medigun and one with Kritz...uber the same Heavy at the enemies spawn on black mesa and you have pure ownage.

Me...personally i like my crits rockets shot directly at my face....and Jinsei is almost always willing to oblige that request. lol
