Excuse my ignorance as never had a crossfire/sli mobo so quick question,...I understand that if I want to use the crossfire/sli bit i need the relavant nvidia-sli or ati-crossfire , but if i wanted to just use one graphics card say on an crossfire mobo eg..gigabyte GA-MA790fx-ds5(crossfire) mobo do i have to use an ati card ? thanks Rob

You don't have to run Crossfire or SLI. If you just want to use one graphics card, even on a Crossfire/SLI "ready" motherboard, you can.
And if you just run one card, no, you don't have to only use an ATI chipset card. You can use a nVidia chipset card too.
