RAM question...

Hello guys/girls,

Can a DDR2 1000 fit in a DDR2 1066? Because I ordered a DDR2 1000 that was on sale, for 42$ (now 100$ back up). And I am wondering if that RAM can work on my PC (a M2n MX se plus) that is 1066.

Will it fit? Because I looked for a DDR2 1000 Motherboard, but there seems to be none.

You can fit a faster ram in a slower bus, it will just run at the default bus speed (unless you have overclocked that.) similar ram will work in other bus speeds. as long as its not like dd2 in dd1 or sd slot

oh duh didn't even see the links on your post, ya the ram will work in their, it will just run at the default mother board speed, which you can change(not recommended) i have never heard of g.skill ram though. Generally imo you should stick with well known manufactures corsair/crucial, but that is only an opinion, good luck.

btw caffine: G. Skill is a very good brand of memory. Just because its not corsair or crucial doesnt mean anything. I have 2 gigs of g skill in my parents pc and it is great.

considering that ram has over 500 reviews and 89% of the reviews are 4 eggs or more i think youve got some good quality stuff there as well.

If you are one to overclock. adjust the ram speed so that it will be 1066 instead of 1000.

Ya? cool i haven't heard of it, or i have and just forgot, either a possibility. Ive had alot of ram that i hadn't heard of fail in comps i have built or that friends have. so i tend to stick with the 5 main manufactures on motherboards/ram/video cards but thats me.

g.skill is priced amazingly. incredibly cheap for such solid ram

G.SKILL is very solid RAM from a good company... And, yes, Anthemjack you shouldn't have any problem doing that.

just make sure after you install the new ram, you hit the bios up and make sure its running on the correct frequency and such. should work fine

Ok guys thanks, this should help the stuttering, my Kingston is 2GB (1 x 1) is about old the day it came out for stock, and it is driving me nuts! I mean it stutters in CS:S and TF2. That thing was on sale and saved 55$ , thanks for your help guys, and ethman101 how do I check that?

I know bios, and stuff, but I dunno how to see it run fine.

Also Caffieine, I'm not an overclocker like the smart people around the forums *points at havegooda with his Super PC* I am very careful about overclocking, I couldn't sleep 2 month a go because I overclocked it and kept me up until I shut off the overclocking, made me stay up 2 days w/o sleep.

G.Skill is as reputable as Corsair, and personally, I prefer them to crucial.

It's amazing that someone hasn't heard of them.

Also, you can put slower memory in your board, but it will automatically clock all other memory sticks to that clock as well.

So if you have 4 slots for RAM, and you have, for the sake of example, two sticks of DDR2 1200 RAM, putting in two sticks of DDR2 1066 RAM will automatically underclock all RAM to 1066.
